But if the UK has the highest energy prices in G20 (i think it does) then is it really a sound policy to simply press on with what has got us here?

At a UK event on global efforts to reduce the tax gap, with a focus on multinationals, the Director of the OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration was asked to confirm if the UK had been difficult in negotiations.
He replied that it certainly had been -
as had all the other Governments..

Real reforms would broaden the base to allow a lower rate, end some peculiarities re CGT, remove some exemptions for some "business assets", and not talk about tax on tax or on "aspirations".
