Some duets are outward looking- they are a presentation of the integrity and character of both artists... Other times the collaboration can feel more opaque- are the artists sharing a true representation of themselves and does that even matter?

I love the idea that each time this moment is remembered, it changes, and becomes more poignant. Every touch becomes more significant.

I’m so proud of the video for I See A Darkness, which is directed by Alexander Brown. It shows the intimacy of friendship during a night out, as a moment between the two friends is remembered over and over.

I couldn’t think of another singer who could translate this feeling more perfectly than Mike. In this song I am his shadow, and his voice is light itself.

It also reminds me that loneliness can be transformative, in that it can acutely reveal to me what I need, and in the rawest sense, reaffirms what it is to be human.

I’ve always dreamed of singing I See A Darkness. It’s so rare for a song to capture the beautiful romance of platonic friendship and chosen family so perfectly.

The combination of our voices is so unique and beautiful. I'm so proud of this collaboration and I can't wait for you to hear it..

I'm therefore beyond thrilled to announce that Mike and I have a song coming out tomorrow~ it's being premiered by Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6Music from 7AM.

I first fell in love with Perfume Genius when I heard 'Queen' for the first time. I was in my room, completely transported by his singular angelic voice. The song came to an end and I picked up my guitar and wrote 'Don't Beat the Girl out of my Boy. There are few artists who touch me so profoundly.
