Was feeling down today and had a long wait for a train connection due to repairs, so I bought a Magnum Bar at the station and that brought me joy, even as I got chocolate on my work shirt.

This tells the story of Yashar, who fled Iran for political reasons. After seeking asylum in Germany, he found a wife, a new apprenticeship, God, and a church community. When considering home, he concludes: Heaven and Earth belong to God. It's where you have family and friends and feel that God is nearer to you. For him, that's Germany.

My town put together an exhibit telling stories of refugees living here. Thrilled that my friend Yashar got to tell his story as part of it. I love especially his musings about "Heimat."
