Psalm 63 ends with "the mouths of the liars will be silenced," which I've always applied not just to the lies of the times we're in but also to those in my head. A mental health verse and prayer.

Friends, it is rough right now for many of us. I urge all of us to remember; We are loved, We are who we were made to be no matter what anyone says, and that this world is so much better with us in it.

Also? Your brain is a goddamn liar. We want you here. 🫶

It's hard for me not to get sad in the Fall as the days get darker. In a way, it's an act of discipline to find joy in the amazing colors God offers at this time. I got to do that on a walk with my wife today. I do love this piece of Earth where I get to live. I hope you saw some amazing colors too.

External threats to privacy are real. But the biggest threat to privacy is the widespread conviction that your private life is on display. That wouldn't be so bad if your definition of
"on display" was grounded in the God-fearing worry that He is watching you. But that's not the definition people are using. It's the idea that people are paying attention to you. And negative attention in this brave new world is better than no attention at all.

"When the test for a statement's validity ceases to be "Is it true?" or "Is it decent?" and is instead "Will it get a reaction from people?" you shouldn't be surprised if people lose the ability to discern truth or care about it all. Over time, for some, truth loses its real meaning. It becomes a misnomer because what people really mean is "something that gets attention" Candace Owens and similar gargoyles say terrible things about Jews, I suspect in no small part, because she thinks if Jews protest, it must be because she's "on to something" It's a moral universe where slander doesn't exist because complaining about slander is treated like confirmation rather than rebuttal. There is no truth, so we're all free to create whatever version of reality we want and we'll just call that the truth until a more profitable narrative emerges."

Are watching a revival? Or something more like a religious revolution? @davidfrenchjag.bsky.social asks.

'A revolution can make you feel alive with purpose, and when the revolution has religious elements, it can flood you with the burning conviction that you are doing God’s will.'

"Congress has rendered itself into a studio audience for the Trump show... but the trend predates him by decades." Great article and reminder that the US will not get out of this without a more courageous congress - institutionally, not just politically.
