When I began talking to my administrator about his academic needs in the art room (this is while she was taping off the box) she looked at me like I was speaking some alien dialect. Motherf……wait, can we say that word? Anyway. This feels real bad.

I have a box taped on my art room floor now. A desk and chair are in the box. All other tables have been pushed far far away from the box. I am an elementary art teacher who has to keep a first grader with troubles in a motherf….well, maybe I can’t say that word…..box.

That’s what I watch after a bad day at school. Everyone’s trained to leave me alone when they hear the opening credits.

We skipped dinner and split two mini cheesecakes. Birthday Cake and chocolate.

Alright. I’m spiraling. But I’m making shit for the art room and that counts as moving forward. I wish my studio water glass weren’t orange like the Idiot Carnival ringmaster. Guess I can just drink the paint water.

I have a Lamborghini now. Because a fifth grader whipped it at me while barreling down the stairs in a huge herd at dismissal. It’s such a special feeling. I’ll keep it forever.

I get a lot of flack from my fellow art teachers by allowing graphite paper for my elementary students when they’ve ideated and been creative and want a tight finished product. Screw ‘em—I was an artist long before I was an art teacher and this is what artists in fact do.

This will be my new art room. I believe my temporary basement art room is some version of the Tardis—it’s cavernous and delightful on the inside, expanded by the imaginations of 560+ children and one crazy old lady.
