I did not state that it was a financial success, I stated that it was a vanguard for VFX and its story became a cult classic from which several other movies found inspiration. If your only metric is box office, sure, but the original movie did have an impact.

True but that original post 🤦🏻 Tron was not a failed ‘80s project; it was a vanguard of VFX at the time, one of the first uses of CGI, and people were in awe of the concept. I mean, The Matrix clearly borrowed from the original’s concept and it became a revered classic. That said, nobody needed MORE.
