In 2024, Donald Trump campaigned on two big promises: (1) he'd bring down gas prices; and (2) he'd not start any new wars.
In 2026, Donald Trump will cause gas prices to spike astronomically by starting a new war.
He's smartβand trustworthyβlike that.
I once interviewed an expert on oil consumption that focused on consumers. He said low gas prices are a religion for Americans and they will do absolutely nonsensical things to access them, like drive miles and miles out of their way.
If you wanna lose votes as fast as possible, raise gas prices.
JUST IN: Democrat Alex Holladay has flipped a GOP-held seat in *Arkansas*.
Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders tried hard to delay this race and wanted the seat to stay vacant for 8+ months, but the courts told her to hold it today. If she was worried, she was right to be.
Our full recap:
I'm so damn tired of the US cycle where Republicans kill our economy, move wealth to the richest 1%, and start a war and then Dems have to clean it up. Then once they get on the right path, Americans are impatient or fixate on some GOP created culture war, and think they should have fixed it all in less than 2 years and re-elect GOP liars who will start the cycle again. Absolutely exhausting.

Graph by BLS in the NYT showing job losses
According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US economy lost 92,000 jobs.
So, war in Middle East, the Epstein files, building an overpriced & unnecessary ballroom, and more more indicate a falling economy.
What took them so long to realize what we are all feeling?

"The working classes have always been the caring classes - not just because they do almost all of the caring labor, but also because, perhaps partly as a result, they actually are more empathetic than the rich. Psychological studies show this, by the way. The richer you are, the less competent you are at even understanding other people's feelings. So trying to reimagine work - not as a value or end in itself, but as the material extension of caring - is a good start." David Graeber
