Good point.
My concern is implementing practices that risk removing eligible voters. The 2 cycles and then remove should stay imo; some do sit elections out and return to vote. The principle of NVRA is that failure to vote does not constitute grounds for removal.

List maintenance is messy. Some fixes:
1. Universal OVR (call it Online Motor Voter)
2. Data sharing agreements to notify when new registrants are coming in who disclose where they used to register to vote.
3. More resources to election officials to do this work.

Thank God for @juliejohnsontx.bsky.social from Texas who actually called this out; if we really care about accuracy, we should push for OVR, especially in states who produce massive lists of "non-citizens" the weeks before a general election.

It is mind boggling that adopting universal OVR to ensure eligible citizens register AND voter data are accurately entered and maintained is not a recommendation. This is why I am calling this bad faith.

Young Mississippians Need Online Voter Registration Mississippi needs online voter registration to improve access to the voting process, especially for young people, the authors write.

"it has never been easier to register to vote in the United States."
Tell that to Mississippi www.mississippifreepress.org/young-missis...

I like how they are talking about data sharing agreements when Republicans have demonized ERIC, which was bipartisan and highly effective in helping states remove ineligible voters.

Must watch. I applaud @mehdirhasan.bsky.social's composure.
All I observed was a bunch of confused folks who didn't stay on topic and would go to the extreme just to own a lib.
And yes, "I don't debate fascists" is a totally valid argument to end a discussion.

Imagine if Trump wanted to be an artist when he was young and he was rejected in art school | his parents didn't let him do art.

Another important finding: need to support efforts to combat false info.
During the 2024 cycle, our team at the EO Comms Tracker project documented several efforts by LEOs to debunk rumors. Check out Missoula County's myth busting post about voter registration.

I realize that there are a few good @nytimes.com reporters. But if we call the paper out for being pro-fascist, then we should not read it at all.

Balenciaga should be the official uniform sponsor of ICE. See Kim Kardashian's 2021 Met Gala outfit. Would totally be on brand for them.

So many recognize the value and preventative impact of vaccines.
Why not apply the same approach to masks? This is so logically inconsistent.

As much as people want to ignore this, covid exists and we are still in a pandemic. It's airborne, meaning you can catch it indoors and outdoors. It does not magically disappear in schools, and it does not discriminate by age or abilities.
