Oh, forgot to mention, but you are absolutely right. I think variety and pushing expectations and experiences is VERY important to growing your tastes.

I'd have never discovered protest music from the 60s, nerdcore rap, classical, or metal if I stuck to what I knew and liked growing up.

Mind you, this is just how I feel about this topic. Every book isn't going to, as I like to say, "sing" to every reader. Likewise, YA novels may just not do it for a reader and that's valid.

But, I don't think it's weird to like something. Life's too short to deny simple pleasures that work. Right?
