Spanish Chickpea Stew | A Timeless Spanish Dish | Spain on a Fork This Spanish Chickpea Stew is loaded with flavors, easy to make and done in 40 minutes. One the most classic chickpea recipes that hail from Spain.

The recipe is from Spain on a Fork. It’s a good source for Spanish recipes, but the site does not have meat or poultry recipes. This is a simple but flavorful recipe I added a small amount of chorizo so it worked better as a main dish. 2/2 spainonafork.com/spanish-chic...

This is Spanish chickpea stew & a new recipe for me. I’ve made a version with chickpeas & spinach before, but this recipe swaps spinach for potatoes. The recipe is vegan but I added a link of Spanish chorizo that I had leftover. Recipe below. 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking

Graduate work in wildlife sciences takes physical stamina for field work & intellectual determination to process the data gathered from that field work. Then there is the difficulty in getting a full-time & permanent research job after getting a phd. In comparison LLMs are glorified plagiarism bots.

My most recent book. The first part is straightforward astronomy. The second was how the moon helped humanity mark time & how this led to quantitative science then moon study disproved heliocentric church dogma & fed the enlightenment era. There wasn’t any one story. It was more of a cumulative impact of many people across different parts of the country and at different times. The sum of the human suffering in the past and what this means going forward was what struck me.

My latest audiobook. In the wake of Love Canal & superfund laws, you’d think that the corporate world would have cleaned up its act, pun intended. The author shows differently. She tells the story of people hurt & their personal & legal fights in sobering detail. Thanks #NYPL for the loan #booksky

White Beans and Chorizo with Quick Marinated Tomatoes and Onion | America's Test Kitchen Recipe We wanted a flavorful, casual meal that put creamy white beans at the fore, and we wanted it on the table as quickly as possible.

The recipe is from America’s Test Kitchen. It’s a very quick recipe to make, if you time it right, 15 minutes. It’s packed with flavor though. It’s a little effort with a big payoff. 2/2 #foodsky www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/1702...

This is chorizo & white beans with quick marinated tomatoes & onions. It’s a long name for a recipe that can be made in a short time. It has Spanish flavors with chorizo, sherry vinegar & smoked paprika but I don’t think it’s any specific Spanish dish. Recipe below. 1/2 #foodsky #cooking

My latest completed read, a hard copy book. I haven’t read a paper book in years. It’s about how the homeless crisis happened & possible solutions. It details how advocates like the author have tried to change laws & policies to help people. Thanks @bklynlibrary.bsky.social for the loan. #booksky

Our Favorite Chili(ATK) Recipe - Food.com A 4-pound chuck-eye roast, well trimmed of fat, can be substituted for the steak. Because much of the chili flavor is held in the fat of this dish, re

The recipe, from Americas Test Kitchen, is weekend project type of recipe. It was fun but there are many steps, toasting whole chiles, blending aromatics into a sofrito, soaking the beans & browning the meat. Here’s the recipe on a non subscription site 2/2 #foodsky www.food.com/recipe/our-f...

My latest experiment with chili recipes. This is another with cubed chuck roast. It has some beans & tomatoes but they are a side note to the meat and chiles. This has half the tomatoes of the last & uses whole dried chiles instead of chile powder. Recipe below 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking #chili

My latest completed audiobook. It’s a human history of the Eurasian steppes and the lands adjacent to them. It spans from prehistory to ~1300. I liked the focus on how ecology influenced culture in early civilizations then trade & economics in later ones. Thanks to #NYPL for the loan #booksky

Zeldin’s preliminary legal arguments are poor. They misrepresent how far W Va vs EPA went for one. I think it’s mostly political theater. Worst case though is SC lets EPA regulate CO2 but only in the most expensive way & that only way would violate major questions or cost benefit analysis.

I’ll second that recommendation. It was a great book.

Best Texas Chili Recipe Serve with a hunk of Texas-sized cornbread.

It was so good it didn’t need any toppings. It has no beans but has tomato. Chipotle & ancho chile powders are for flavor & heat. The meat is a whole beef chuck roast cubed. It thickens through a long slow cooking instead of adding a thickener like flour. 1/2 www.delish.com/cooking/reci...

Today’s dinner was chili. This is cubed chuck not ground beef. It was a long and slow cooked stew. I cook the quick ground beef & grocery chili mix version of often, but this recipe is very different and totally worth the extra work. Recipe below 1/2 #foodsky #food #cooking #chili

Considering that this mistreatment of tourists will reduce international tourism business in the U.S., what parts of the country have the most international tourism business? Is it blue states like NY & CA? Is this trump trying to hurt the economy of his political opponents?

Sardine Pasta Puttanesca (Published 2023)

Good recipe from the otherwise failing New York Times. Ingredient wise it’s a standard puttanesca but sardines are added at the end. The pasta is boiled in water less and finished in the sauce longer than most pasta dishes. 2/2 #foodsky cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024...

Dinner was sardine pasta puttanesca. It’s pasta puttanesca with canned (or tinned to make it sound fancy) sardines. I’ve been wanting to use more seafood and this recipe was a good opportunity. Sardines are a new ingredient for me. Recipe below 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #food #cooking

Braised New Mexico–Style Pork in Red Chile Sauce (Carne Adovada) | America's Test Kitchen Recipe

This is another recipe from America’s Test Kitchen. When I first saw it I thought it was a stew. It has no other ingredients other than the sauce and pork. The sauce is simple too, mostly puréed New Mexican chile 2/2 #foodsky www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/1117...

This is carne adovada, New Mexican style pork braised in red chile sauce. It isn’t a stew, it’s pork braised in puréed New Mexico chiles. It’s rich & earthy but no heat. Pickled jalapeños and queso fresco add some nice balance. Recipe below 1/2 #foodsky #food #cooking

My latest completed read. It’s a climate change book focused on agriculture, a third of all greenhouse gas emissions. Land-use changes can reduce emissions but this causes. forests to be converted to farms which releases more carbon than saved & solutions are difficult. Yikes. 💙📚 #booksky #climate

Calabacitas is a Mexican vegetable medley, typically summer squash, tomatoes & corn flavored with aromatics, spices & cheese. My version is lighter and more vegetable forward with just a touch of queso fresco as a garnish. 2/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking

With my deep-dive into Mexican cuisine I’ve been eating more meat than usual, so I made this vegetarian lunch. Leftover cilantro rice & corn sautéed with shallots & poblanos on the right & calabacitas on the left. The calabacitas is my own take. My recipe below 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #food #cooking
