It looks like the 3d engine just got an update a few days ago - so maybe there is hope?

Even though influencers mostly act like there hasn’t been a ton of progress - It’s kind of wild to think of how far game development has come in what feels like such a short amount of time.

Found old copies of the Torque and RealmCrafter game engines while cleaning out stuff for a move.

What a wave of nostalgia.

Honestly didn't expect the website would become a procrastination tool against sleep.

I think I've trained myself in a bad way. I was totally ready to go to bed until I got IN bed.

Now I'm laying here writing new features for my website.

Right. I suppose I should support Android too...

Turns out Apple wallet passes are way easier to make than I thought they would be.

This is gonna be fun.

Oh wait there's another new task! Gotta get those meta tags working properly.

Guess work will have to wait.

I've about tapped the procrastination well that was finishing my personal website. I guess its time to get back to regularly scheduled work.

AI coding is still very touch-and-go for me right now, but Cursor is more than paying for itself in just writing storybook stories for all of the components that I'm writing.

maybe throw a advertiser/supporter label up for the accounts that are advertising?

Game dev is hard enough, why would I do this to myself.

From my perspective it all comes down to being very, very honest about what it is that you want to accomplish. After you’ve done that really get familiar with the tools that are around - then it becomes really easy to make (whatever) cool stuff you want.

I goof’d somehow totally forgot that the joco cruise was a thing.

There is not really anything that makes it seem like a LLM would be better than the myriad of other AI/ML techniques that exist for these things. There are a bunch of cases where it would be definitively worse.

Yeah, it can definitely be crushing. the tail end of leaving was because I was going to school full time and working full time.

The beauty of being so close though is, whenever it becomes absolutely necessary that you get the degree itself - you can just go back.

Yes and yes, newgrounds and neopets a ton, but I also popped into habbo hotel a bit.

ofc not to say that you’ll have the same motivational challenges I had or anything.

I did something similar long ago and it basically led to me not finishing my degree. Nothing stops you from working in project management with the CS degree, and it can easily open some doors into technical program manager class work sooner rather than later.

Knowing I have to be an approaching-responsible adult the next day really takes the fun out of these all-night coding sessions.

Watching the clock so that I can get that critical 1 hour & 30 minutes of sleep just spoils it all.

Most feeds aren’t algorithmic so what gets posted will eventually make it to the top. The thing that seems to be the most useful here is just directly engaging with people.

feeds are also the mechanism provided for alternative algorithms - though they are more challenging to write than just filters. I imagine with all of the uptake we will start to see more of them, processing the fire hose is starting to get costly for a few feeds already.

So one of the hardest parts of the social media thing for me is - what do i show? I’m primarily a programmer, so the things that i’d have to show that other people want to see are primarily my colleagues work.

Any advice?
