Just some tidy work where I think it needs it, Johann platooned in for Gundry in the second half, but I credited the later with a couple of saves ... including a scrambling save that her athleticism really played a part. Both keepers making their case.

There's the horn. UNC wins regressively over Rice 4-0, with two goals from Thomas, a goal from Ullmark, and one from Freifeld.

Bella Gaetino breaks free in the channel down the left, absorbs a challenge, and is able to get back up with the ball at her feet. Goes for goal instead of looking for the square at a tight angle ... Kate was wide open. 1 to play.

3 to play, Rice is getting a service FK after a sloppy play in midfield by UNC. Gundry grabs the lofted ball in. 4-0 UNC down the stretch.

5 to play, Kate Faasse breaks free, but takes an extra touch in the window that looked like she should have pulled the trigger. 4-0 UNC.

8 to play, Eris Freifeld to the endline tried to chip a delicate ball into a hungry Kate Faasse, but she underhits and the keeper grabs. Never have I seen the weight of the world so thourahly evident on someones shoulders as it has been today on Kate's. God bless her she is exhausted but battling.

9 to play, deliberate but shaky possession from UNC to try and see this game out. The clock has stopped briefly here as a Rice player clutches her head after a collision. 4-0 UNC.

UNC fully into their bench now as we approach 12 minutes to play... And Rice nearly pounces right away. A ranged effort on a poor turnover catches Gundry back pedaling a bit, but she still made a great fingertip save. She's had to make two really good, athletic saves for UNC today.

Deserved tally for the freshman, who has easily had one of the best games of the day. Gaetino again makes her case for offense, drives towards the corner, makes a move to beat a double team, and delivers a cross that is either punched or fumbled right to Freifeld, who forces it home from close range

2 | 16, throw in battle with subs for both teams checking in and out. Game has slowed down significantly.

2 | 17, significant number of Rice fouls this half as they get tired and start to reach. Frustrating that there hasn't been a yellow card yet.

Inside out movement from UNC, as Eden Bretzer and Aven Alvarez combine out wide until the former finds Kate Faasse at the back post. Contested with the keeper, it rebounds up and out of Kate's reach.

Thomas snatches her effort, it definitely feels like she rushed it. Well over in the end. Still 3-0 UNC with 22 to play.

After Devey funnels another run into the middle, the ball pops free for Thomas who blisters one off the top of the crossbar. Open as open gets, missed.

Tar Heels break upfield on a counter attack after the Rice FK, Faasse and Thomas combine, but the ladder drives with I straight into a Rice defender. 2-0 UNC still.

My phone has overheated, but we're in a break anyway as the official has gone to review a possible PK for UNC. Bradley, threatening the endline and moving away from goal, is taken down very hard from behind and is injured. No call was made, but there was so much contact he's decided to look at it.

2 | 41, Olivia Thomas with her back to goal has the ball poked away from after another combination through the middle. It falls right to Devey in a pocket of space inside the 18, so much space that she settled, picked her spot, and missed just wide. 2-0.

2 | 43, first attacking sequence for UNC in the second is a double back to goal movement through the middle with Thomas trying to lay the ball of an a pseudo give and go, but she over hit her first time pass effort.
