09.10.2025 17:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0'90s ALNG had some organizational memory of the civil rights protests, I was trained more there for protests than in the RA.
In the RA I was trained to with mattock(pickaxe) handles.
In the NG was trained annually to hold them off with batons while snatching specific protest leaders from the crowd.

Turns out their research showed that cops with higher IQ are a retention problem... they quit, find other jobs and the department didn't want to make the investment.
Not to be outdone, the secretary of housing and urban development will dress up like an apartment building.

08.10.2025 02:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The bolts were marked with the rack numbers in what looks like white-out.
So far as I know, all the units in the Dixie Division ( really an infantry Brigade) did that.
This was the 90s Alabama National Guard, in the era of 15-year E4s and four deuce.
Which is about as relevant to you as the Korean War was to me.
Apropos of nothing, we had an E6 who had been in Korea right after the war, and an E5 who'd been one of those legendary theiving Vietnam supply sgt
As someone who has guarded a payroll (folding green money and travelers checks) without ammo... I'm going to guess these guys never get ammo or it stays locked in the NCOICs vehicle.
08.10.2025 00:57 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In the guard there was supposedly a law that prohibited us transporting the bolts and the weapons in the same vehicle.
The bolts had a locking box and the rifles went on your arms room style rack.
At least once the weapons showed up in the field to discover that they had "forgotten" the bolts.
The same thing is true of the unorganized militia of the United States...
... which excludes people like the vice president and the Postmaster General weirdly enough.
Fortunately we're not susceptible to spontaneous call-ups.
I feel like some enterprising PAC NCO has suddenly discovered what to do with the guys they had no idea what to do with and couldn't Xerox the waivers fast enough.
Doesn't seem to me they'd be inclined to bring them home.

The problem here was not so much the idea of flying a car well known for it's love of explosions, but the implementation of throwing the whole thing together with sheet metal screws and not, IDK, fasteners rated for the job.
