I remember having a discussion about "V for Vendetta" years ago where my friend said something to the effect of "it's an entertaining story but it's a totally over the top caricature of society. Something like that could never happen".

No idea what brought that to mind...

Even if it was consensual (which really doesn't sound likely when you look at the full picture) he's admitted to sleeping with women in his employ and living in his house. That alone is disgusting : there's a power imbalance that was abused for him to get what he wanted *at the very least*

Conviction rates for sexual assault are terrible for many reasons, that doesn't mean it didn't happen. A lack of a conviction doesn't mean he didn't do it, and it doesn't mean that everybody should suddenly change their opinion to think he's innocent.

Re : Neil Gaiman, a post for the "he hasn't been convicted of anything" crowd there are several points I'd like to make :

A court verdict or lack thereof is only relevant *in court*. People can have an opinion based on what has been reported and whether they believe it.
