it’s fucked!!! idk the whole situation around patrons of the arts leaves young people so incredibly vulnerable to the whims of horrible people

having the realization that i was going to have to fight and scrape by for the majority of my life unless i got lucky and someone rich took pity on me if i wanted to perform as a living was the final straw that finally killed off my drive to pursue it (though the pandemic sure didn’t help either).

the current admin seems to have made concentrated effort to protect the campers, but it’s crazy that more shit either didn’t happen or never came out. being in the arts means that you are at the mercy of rich people most of the time, and you just have to accept some weird shit might happen to you.

honestly tho i am still processing all of this. i was a camper when interlochen disavowed epstein, but i have no memory of hearing about it back then. it also really doesn’t surprise me that he used his access to groom young girls because the ability for donors to get cabins was uh. questionable

as an interlochen alum, i used to rag on my friend who went to blue lake. guess which music summer camp isn’t in the epstein files? 🫠
