So your post led me down a little rabbit hole. I discovered that we only have cosmos flowers because of the Anglo Boer war, who knew? Apparently the seeds hitched a ride on the fodder for the horses. Crazy stuff.

Whenever we see the Cosmos here it means Autumn is around the corner. Does it also grow on the side of the road and parks? Here it's seen as weed, we don't really plant it in our gardens. Here's a photo of Delta park in 2022 by Shirley Tebbutt

It's a rainy day in jhb, my government sucks and now I have a hankering for samp with salt and lashings of butter.

We had a massive storm on Wednesday. I was a little worried about an Egyptian geese family but thankfully they got through the storm.

I was chatting to a friend and he has family in Cyprus, apparently they also have loadshedding but there's no schedule, so you can't plan and you don't know how long you're off. Here we have an app, you know your block, on lower stages it's 2 hours off at a time higher stages 4 hours.

Thank you so much, you are such a lovely friend. Loadshedding is no fun but it is what it is. The day was brilliant actually, nothing fancy, but good food and really good company. I hope you have a brilliant day ❤️

Today is also my birthday. It has been a good day. Richard ordered me books. I got to teach at my favourite school and we're having curry for dinner. Before dinner we'll have a drink on the patio and feed the birds.

Sorry for being a little quiet. The world seems to be upside down, all over, and it's been a lot. In the minutiae of my life, our fridge has a leak somewhere and Ron the repair guy had to tell me we need a new one. We also have loadshedding and every time the power goes off the fridge leaks more. 😭

This is true. I let the nurse at the vet borrow 2 of my books in November. I know that Dec is their busiest time but I worry that she's forgotten about them. I would like them back but I'm not sure how to let her know without sounding obsessive compulsive.

I can help and give you some non political people/ pages to follow. Also having said that you need to take care of you and do things to protect yourself. It is very scary right now for everyone and I'm not even American.

Is the cosmos out already? That seems early.

Trump is old, has a terrible diet and is definitely addicted to some stuff (his white house pharmacy was essentially a pill mill last time) so I think that problem will take care of itself. Essentially you only need to convict JD. I agree not a lot can be done until 2026.

You are right, sadly. This is a fixable problem but as always it comes back to corruption and cadres having to eat. I wish more people had voted last year and I suppose our next hope is the LGE next year. Ward Cllr told me that jhb is basically bankrupt and should be in administration.

Loadshedding is back 😔 apparently Eskom didn't get the 30% increase they wanted so now suddenly we don't have enough power. I call bs. How much do you want to bet that they don't turn us on ontime?
