Broad claims about gender and behavior fall apart when studies include ethnically diverse samples Behavioral economics relies heavily on studies of Western, educated people. A recent analysis provides evidence that ignoring racial diversity within the United States has led to flawed generalization...

"The research suggests that generalizations about human behavior are often flawed because they rely on samples composed largely of White individuals."

Following the ban on trans women by Women's institute amid legal threats, at least 12 branches have said they've been left with no choice but to close.
Members say a "toxic, traditionalist culture" is deterring young women from joining the Women's Institute, as at least 12 branches have closed since the national organisation banned trans women, citing legal threats related to last year’s Supreme Court ruling on the Equality Act - The Guardian

*Unless you’re unable to work due to disability or caring responsibilities, or a refugee or migrant, or just unable to find work at the moment, in which case these things are absolutely too much to ask, according to decades of Labour and Tory policies.

People like Goodwin hate Britain. They want to drag it to antiquity because a backwards, discriminatory society is the only society they can thrive in. Without discrimination and disadvantage for others, they are nobodies

If starving the disabled, leaving the elderly to freeze, and attacking refugees and migrants makes good fiscal sense c why was the country in such bad economic shape after years of both the Tories and Labour doing it? Toynbee is talking utter nonsense. A clueless, heartless ideologue.

The Iranian government is bad. The U.S. government is bad. Basically every government/state is harming someone, be it marginalising some of their own citizens up to fascism and imperialism.

Maybe top-down hierarchies that concentrate power and wealth are bad actually? Maybe we can do better?

This is absolutely what will happen; the full power of the establishment will be turned on the Green Party. Every newspaper, every TV channel, every social media algorithm. The whole lot will be focused on discrediting the Green Party.

I will also fight against the extremes in politics on the right and the left, parties who want to tear our country apart.

I will also fight against the extremes in politics on the right and the left, parties who want to tear our country apart.

This is why polarisation is such an unhelpful term as it encourages this kind of horseshoe theorising

Starmer's vision may sound grownup but it's one where politics should be in between democracy and authoritarianism, racism and anti-racism, transphobia and trans rights and fascism and anti-fascism

Banning Kids From Social Media Won’t Save Them From Society’s Prejudice But it will harm LGBTQ kids and other marginalized kids

Banning kids from social media doesn’t actually tackle the causes of systemic harms, because social media is just a mirror for society’s prejudice.

Reform blaming Muslims for losing is just another example that hate is all they have. Literally their only answer to anything is to blame Muslims, blame immigrants, racism, racism, more racism.

Criminalising drugs doesn’t stop people using them, it just means their life can be ruined if they get caught.

Meanwhile, Portugal decriminalised all drugs decades ago and lifetime drug use has decreased since.

When the Czech Republic decriminalised small amounts, use didn’t increase.

Our current drug policies actually shatter lives. We can educate young people about drugs from a harm reduction perspective without paternalistically criminalising them for what they choose to put in their bodies.

Also alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there, and it’s perfectly legal.

Labour allowed bigots to subvert the EA2010 to enforce sexist stereotypes that harm cis and trans women. They’ve also pushed a version of trans exclusion that curtails cis women’s freedom of association, forcing women’s groups to close.

Labour are a source of violence against women.

I think people still underestimate the extent to which the panic over an increase in trans boys transitioning is about the belief that AFAB bodies are rightfully for breeding and should be preserved as property belonging to their future husbands.

Similarly, the Cass Review’s manufacturing of β€œevidence” to withdraw treatment from trans kids (and adults) was IMO modelled on the use of Simon Wessely’s biopsychosocial model to justify withdrawing benefits from people with ME/CFS and hard to treat conditions with unexplained symptoms.
