And my point isn’t that the entire US government turns progressive; it’s that in a general sense there is motivation and momentum. It doesn’t really matter to Republicans whether the momentum includes more AOCs or more Bill Clinton’s; they will label them all communists.

They are though. What they fear most is democracy, resulting in their loss of power and/or their prosecution.

Mamdani is not involved in 2026, but his example will inspire other new candidates elsewhere that could generate turnout. Maybe not with his ideology, but with campaign strategies.
