Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.
For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
I confess, right now the title "Scientific American" reads like an oxymoron. And it's not the publisher's fault.

Finally, the bug is back with a round of the Guinness.

Manoj Kumar Jha doesn't say it aloud, but there is an almost complete overlap between the rise of Hindutva and the erosion of shame in Indian society.

@openvibe.social @openvibe sharing links from browser/other apps on Android doesn't seem to work now.
Such an action now only starts openvibe, but earlier it would directly compose a tweet/message

@katemac.bsky.social and I chose this cover image for our piece because it looked cool.
Did not know that electric mopeds , e-bikes , e-cargo bikes etc are collectively crushing oil in a bigger way than electric cars!!

Must admit that I expected it to be much worse; @ashwan.bsky.social explained to me why it isn't.

Read an award-winning novel today. While it has its merits, would we be praising "literary fiction" if juries actually read other genres?

Tbh I can say something similar about India.
In 2009, I had women colleagues who'd vehemently disagree with the idea of a Ramarajya, questioning how one could call a man who abandoned his pregnant wife in the forest as a 'Maryada Purushottama'.
In Aug 2009, my first weekend after moving to Tennessee, I was shocked to see someone hold a "We don't want a Black President" sign at an anti-Obamacare protest.
Today in Feb 2026, the president of the US posts an AI video of the Obamas as monkeys.
100% agree with what the prof here says. The occasional succes like AlphaFold is just not worth all the damage that is being forced upon us.
