I had a Kona EV before I got my Ioniq 6 and took multiple road trips in it. The charging speed never bothered me or got in my way. I just pointed out that newer EVs charge faster since a lot of people I talk to still thinks it takes over an hour. Which I donโt think was ever the case for modern EVs.

POLLUTING GAS REALLY STINKS Aussie power prices are high because expensive polluting gas often set the price of power and aging coal plants keep breaking down pushing prices higher. Meanwhile many households overpay on outdated plans. (Image of stacks burning excess gas)
Hold on a second, WHAT EXACTLY IS IN A POWER BILL? (Pie chart showing) NETWORK COSTS (POLES AND WIRES) 39% WHOLESALE COSTS (THE COST OF THE ELECTRICITY YOU USE) 38% OTHER COSTS (RETAIL SERVICES & COMPLYING WITH GOVT REGS) 17% RETAIL MARGINS 6%
The good news?
We already have the solution.
Renewables are the cheapest form of new electricity. Theyโre cleaner and more reliable when backed by storage.
#climatecrisis #fossilfuels #auspol
WHY DO OUR POWER BILLS KEEP GOING UP? ...and who's to blame?
THE STATE OF AUSSIE POWER BILLS Key facts: EXPENSIVE GAS IS DRIVING HIGH ELECTRICITY PRICES OLD COAL POWER STATIONS ARE CAUSING PRICE SPIKES MILLIONS OF AUSTRALIANS ARE OVERPAYING FOR ELECTRICITY RENEWABLE ENERGY IS ALREADY LOWERING BILLS GOVERNMENTS NEED TO ACCELLERATE CLEAN ENERGY AND PROTECT CONSUMERS
Power bills are high because Australia still relies on expensive gas and old coal stations that keep breaking down. Itโs as simple as that.
So while households struggle, big energy companies keep making huge profits.
#climatecrisis #fossilfuels #auspol
HERE'S WHAT'S GOING ON WITH OUR BILLS Basically, these guys: EXPENSIVE POLLUTING GAS, DODGY ENERGY RETAILERS, UNRELIABLE COAL STATIONS AND POOR PAST PLANNING are sending power bills through the roof, meanwhile...
ABUNDANT, CLEAN RENEWABLES RENEWABLE ENERGY, ELECTRIFIED HOMES, BATTERY STORAGE CONNECTED WITH TRANSMISSION can keep power prices down!
THE GOOD NEWS: Renewables and storage now provide close to 45% of electricity in Australia's main grid, which is driving down bills. By expanding renewable energy, storage and transmission we can reduce our reliance on volatile fossil fuel prices and lower long-term costs for households and businesses.
More wind and solar means lower prices and less pollution.

Modern EVs go from 10-80% in under 20 minutes. Thatโs quicker than I can use the restroom and stretch my legs. Once again charging happens while I am doing something else.

EV charging is something that happens while youโre doing something else. It's not a separate chore you have to plan your day around. This difference with fossil-fuelled cars isn't just a footnote. It is the entire upgrade.
