Don't forget to purchase a stationwagon and trailer (paying 1980s petrol prices) so you can collect tools, untreated timber, and seaweed, manure, mulch etc to build and fertilise your garden.

I had a feeling it was their miost succesful album... but I always prefered Bossanova which I LOVED seeing live last night.

What RNZ considers to be worthy of a breaking news push notification is baffling, but this is quite a cute example

Zohran Mamdani's win is "an incredible proof of concept of how to fight fascism," says @naomiaklein.bsky.social.

"Fascists want everybody to be the same. They celebrate conformity, uniformity, sameness, hierarchy. … The entire [Mamdani] campaign was a love letter to the diversity."

Greater Wellington results are in. @quentinduthie.bsky.social is back in in Te Awa Kairangi, so is Gabriel Tupou, unfortunately ACT's Nigel Elder also made the cut.

Especially satisfying to see Guppy booted out, considering the toxic and truly unhinged behaviour of his mate Bloxham towards Peri and her supporters

Podcast: Quit Paris? How pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords went from fringe media to the mainstream | PledgeMe Quit Paris? This podcast will investigate how a fringe idea moved from being a fringe position to one advocated by mainstream politicians

If this crowdfund meets the goal I can pay myself the equivalent of the jobseeker benefit for the time between my current contract ends, and the start of the next academic year, at which point I'll become a full time student and borrow weekly living costs

I remember when a protester punched the co-leader of the Greens in the face.

Hana Maipi-Clarke had her home broken into by a political stalker.

I recall VFF protesting outside Clarke's parents' home while Jacinda was on holiday.

I dont remember hearing about National's concerns back then??

And past data is not very helpful when we haven't had a large plate boundary earthquake in recent human history. A m8 Alpine Fault or Hikurangi subduction zone quake is going to be something else entirely...

An excerpt from an op ed from David Seymour from Jan 2025. "New Zealand has lost a fortune to earthquake regulations in the past decade, because politicians thought, or should I say felt, more restrictions were the right thing to do after the Canterbury quakes. And yet, fewer than 500 people have died from earthquakes in the history of our country. That’s about as many as die from cancer every three weeks, but we can’t afford all the drugs they need. Hmmm.

I sense Seymour's hand in this. Seismic standards were an example of 'bad regulation' he used to push the Reg Standards Bill. He fundamentally misunderstands the nature of EQ risk - what happened in the recent past is no indication of will happen in the future when we have a big plate boundary EQ

It was jarring to see him in the Jacinda doco, standing behind her in Chch right after the mosque shootings, at marae events, in press conferences. He really has traveled a long way in just a few years.

NZ will not yet recognise Palestinian statehood, Peters says in UN speech Foreign Minister Winston Peters said there was no obvious link between recognising Palestinian statehood now and protecting work towards a two-state solution.

β€œWe are shocked to our core by harrowing images of famine in Gaza. We are revolted by what can only be described as a grossly disproportionate response from the Israeli Government."

It is described as *genocide*, you tool.

Use β€œI” statements please Winston. The tens of thousands of NZers who marched, the thousands and thousands more who see this genocide for what it is and who know recognising Palestine is an important symbol of solidarity, your decision does not represent us.

Minister orders more classrooms to help struggling construction workers The Government is ordering new classrooms, as it looks for immediate fixes to stem back-to-back reports of a declining construction sector.

Is it really "fast-tracking" or "accelerating" when it's basically restarting some of the 100-odd projects you iced a year ago, putting the construction sector into a nosedive? www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...
