well how would you arrange trucks and drones to russia, if you were ukraine? in 3 minutes you’ll probably come up with at least 3 feasible ideas. hint: may be separately? may be not from ukraine directly?

Many have forgotten how "the Russia problem" was spread very close to the borders of the countries that currently consider themselves "safe". Russia doesn't actually think in "spheres of influence", it takes everything it's allowed to.

BTW what is it about? Honest question; in Europe we don't even have this weird... extreme anti abortion-ism.

Some scrap metal that was used for fences has tipped over. Otherwise this is your average Russia outside the posh neighborhoods of major cities 🤷‍♂️

🧵 I want to follow up this earlier thread by examining why the USA finds itself in the state it does at the moment; the process of disordered discourse capturing state institutions and how it inevitably results in a slide towards authoritarianism, a process we're seeing unfold before our very eyes.

Also if the logic is that Russia will always be there and that's why normalizing needs to happen, then go normalize relations w North Korea too.

Yup let's already start building a next fat ass gas pipeline. Because things start looking so normal again. Moron.

Things don't look good for the price of eggs. But Trump has it figured out - the number of people voting for him positively correlates with egg prices.

Why the Maga mindset is different US decisions can no longer be analysed using assumptions shared across the democratic west

One of the more stunning -- or perhaps not -- studies of American values today. And why what we have seen happen may be a long-term Huntingtonian divide. A gift link

The disgust I have developed against Teslas is starting to spread to Harley Davidson - a type of machine that has been quite dear to me for many years. As a consumer, I'm not rational - I also want to feel good about my spending. May be I'm the only odd one out.

So where could the US still have influence? Last bastions seem to be Europe, South Korea / Japan / Taiwan, and Israel. None of them are going in a great direction for them. Sooner you know, trade suffers, then economy, then military posture.

It seems clear he doesn't want that. What he doesn't understand is that there's no such thing as "interest vacuum" - where the US is not present as a crucial, needed partner, there will be someone else. The ecosystem just reconfigures itself, others step up.

We are now observing the 5 classic stages of grief unfolding re US turn towards Russia. Denial and anger seem to be largely passed, we are now at bargaining ("May be Trump likes us if we spend more on defence and Zelensky apologises"). Then depression, and quite soon, acceptance 🤷‍♂️

Carlos Slim orders to cancel his collaboration with Elon Musk's Starlink In a significant business development, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has decided to cancel his collaboration with Elon Musk's Starlink. The decision

"By opting to develop its own infrastructure, América Móvil aims to maintain control over its operations and ensure the reliability of its services" -- Trump and Elon don't understand how much wealth the US has gained by being (sort of) reliable in the past. mexicodailypost.com/2025/02/24/c...

There are a few countries where there's still some "sisu" in the population. These are UK (hard core war daddies since forever), Poland, Finland (never mess with a Finn), Sweden and Estonia.

Also, there are 3 possible statuses: inviter, invited and not invited. Long ways to go from not invited to inviter. The only way it could happen is the United States of Europe. Which is something the crazy uncles and the spoiled-brat EU citizens will never achieve.

I doubt it's a sign of anything other than Europe just not considered useful for these discussions. Why have a bunch of crazy uncles present who can't agree on anything?

Trump team to start Russia-Ukraine peace talks in Saudi Arabia Negotiators from Kyiv will be joining the talks that launch in the coming days.

Europe had a window of opportunity to unite and become an actual superpower. This time was wasted bickering over agricultural subsidies, and worrying over how Greeks could pay greedy German banks. Now we aren't even invited to the negotiation table. www.politico.eu/article/trum...

In some ways it't now even worse than Stalin's time. Back then, they mostly went through the motions of a legal due process (albeit with the same outcome). Nowadays you just fall out of a window.

Many have wondered why so little dissent in Russia. Well, Russian regimes, right starting from the October revolution, are built on complete ruthless suppression of any even smallest dissent. The window fall is not random - it has become a well understood message. meduza.io/en/news/2025...

At this pace, Russia will soon become a net importer of oil since they will not have enough oil themselves to be burned by Ukrainians.
