Bahaha. Hundreds of thousands die from drinking each year but let's focus on the 16 people who had a bad reaction to cannabis. No, it's not harmless, but compared to the status quo it's orders of magnitude safer.

True, but mainly because Biden would defer to the right people.

I think freak accidents will still occur, like always. But machines doing more human jobs is inevitable, even ignoring those that do physical work.

The point is more that jobs traditionally done by humans are being replaced by robotics and automation. This will lead to the need for way less workers, and ergo a need for basic income. Highly skilled jobs may be safe but lots of less skilled jobs will simply go the way of the dodo bird.

Some battles are invisible, but they still ask for everything. You lose comfort, peaceโ€”parts of who you were.

But maybe thatโ€™s the price of becoming who youโ€™re meant to be. Not all scars show. Not all heroes look like heroes.

Keep going.

I'll take my chances. Cannabis is orders of magnitude less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. The harms need comparators to have meaning.

THC is orders of magnitude safer than alcohol. These pompous fucks never mention the 100k plus alcohol kills in America each year.

You'd be surprised how many folks don't know their history!

And even that is about self control. Can always choose to eat something healthier.

No. Being 'high' is not an equation to being impaired. Most regular users rarely get significantly impaired from most tasks.

I believe Cannabis was helping treat most of my ADHD symptoms for years. Definitely can help focus and slow things down for people.

25.05.2025 16:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Actually it started with Harry Anslinger in the 1930s using cannabis as an easy means to stigmatize Mexicana and blacks. Then Nixon doubled down with the DEA to go after anti war protestors etc.

Cannabis has never been illegal based on facts or relative harm, but rather propaganda and lies.

25.05.2025 14:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 8    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

We need to stop testing for substance and develop proper impairment tests in my opinion. Why someone is impaired is secondary to the fact they are.

25.05.2025 14:10 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

THC blood level doesn't map to impairment like blood alcohol level does.

There is some variance with alcohol, but cannabis can be orders of magnitude difference between users in terms of what levels cause impairment.

I can smoke a joint and be 100% fine while my inexperienced friend can't walk.

What employees do on their own time should be their own business. Drug testing in general has been a gross overreach for decades. It should be limited to impairment testing and only when someone is obviously impaired or caused an accident.

Seems like the second is well underway. None of them work because they all rely on the people in power being honest and fair, and they never are.

I mean, I'd be way more worried if the debt was much larger than GDP, but it's not. The issue is that some inflation is needed or you have no growth. We don't keep up because of capitalism and greed at the top always taking a little extra. But what's the alternative?

25.05.2025 02:00 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Well thankfully most of the debt is held domestically in bonds and the US is in no danger of default. They literally CAN print money to pay debts because they are the world's primary currency.

25.05.2025 01:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Haven't the last 3 presidents all handed out cash stimulus?

25.05.2025 01:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Agreed. Lots of them just fell on hard times. Mental health services are grossly lacking. But similarly MOST drug users aren't those we see causing issues either but they are left needlessly at risk without a legal regulated supply. Legalization does not mean we need to promote it.

24.05.2025 23:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Don't get me wrong. What the NDP did wasn't the right way to do it. We absolutely must incorporate rules around public usage with legalization. But these substances are similar in harm to alcohol and should be treated similarly.

24.05.2025 23:29 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Supply and demand has never cared about legalization either, so you either have known doses of legal supply or you let gangs and cartels control it. We've tried the latter for 80 years. It didn't work.

24.05.2025 23:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And enabling? Addicts are addicted. They don't give a shit about laws. That's the whole point. They're going to use the drugs regardless. So it's far safer to regulate known purity and dosage.

24.05.2025 23:24 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Not just a safe supply, a legal one. With actual tested substances, not alternatives.

Of course consumption in public should be illegal, so you need consumption sites too. Aka, bars.

24.05.2025 23:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

What about the other 90 percent of drug users? We have lots of alcoholics but alcohol is still legal. Similarly there are tons of entirely functional drug users.

Prohibition has long proven to be far more harmful than the substances themselves.

24.05.2025 23:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

IMO it's all about getting people to hate one another so much they ignore what's going on by those in power. It's never seemed more evident than now.
