It is already illegal to do that. Can you ban something else. Think of something. Anything. Improv. Go nuts.

When the vintage store owner closes for a day, nobody notices. If the unionized city workers refuse to come to work, or the unionized snowplow drivers, bus drivers, warehouse workers, and air traffic controllers, society stops. We need to have demands and have ways of making them heard.

When small business owners close in protest, the government ignores them because it can; because it's easy. Those closures put no pressure on anyone; they are not strategic. We all have outrage to express, but if we want change we have to channel that outrage into actions that will have an effect.

If you are using the language of a strike, you need to take your lead from the labor movement, not the owners of small businesses. The labor movement is in direct struggle with the powerful people that employ their workers, and that means that they are in a position to have an economic effect.

Powerful people do not care if the coffeeshop is closed. Powerful people do not care if the performing arts center is closed. The economic effect of the closed coffeeshop and the closed performing arts center on powerful people is zero, and economic effect is the only thing those people notice.
