Smokey is a 9-year-old, 75-pound sweetheart who came to our Sanctuary after being rescued from an overcrowded shelter. While we don’t know much about his life before that, we do know he arrived at his previous shelter in rough shape — covered in fleas and with irritated skin. Thankfully, with some much-needed TLC, Smokey has started to heal, and his gentle spirit has begun to shine through. Though his hearing seems to be fading, Smokey’s vision is still strong, and he’s adapting well. He does have an old ACL injury that our vet is currently managing with pain medication and aquatic therapy. So far, he’s responding well, though surgery may be needed in the future. Through it all, Smokey remains a calm, sweet, and incredibly handsome boy. He takes everything in stride and is learning to enjoy the safety and care of his new surroundings. Meet Cesear! Cesear is an exuberant and energetic pup who is looking for a dog savvy adopter. He is very treat motivated and loves to engage in training games. He learns things very quickly and would do best in a home with structure and somebody willing to work with him on his manners. This guy has lots of energy to burn and would love to have a yard that he can run and play in, although not required, there are plenty of other outlets and ways to meet his energy needs such as long hikes, swims, and adventures! Cesear will for sure be worth it once he is out of the shelter and has a more structed lifestyle. As the shelter, Cesear has been around other dogs and has a rough/rowdy play style and may need some management when playing with other dogs but with the perfect match he could do well! Cesear has demonstrated some jumpy/mouthy behaviors but has been quite the quick learner in regards to what behaviors are and aren’t acceptable. He really is the best boy who just needs out of the shelter. The kennel life is taking a toll on Cesear quickly and we’d love to get him out asap. He is available for rescue, foster or adoption!
