A poll from a pro-Israel outfit shows Mamdani with a sizeable lead among NYC Jews. The right-leaning outlet Jewish Insider decides this is bad news for Mamdani.

E.g. the state of France does not exist on its current boundaries because all those places were already filled with 'the French.'

Rather the French state already existed and made everyone in its borders *learn French.*

The state created the nation, not the other way around.

What disguises this fact for the 'heritage Americans' thumbless grasp of history is those new composite states last so long that they create new identities which white nationalists then and now mistake for original, pristine identities.

One thing that white nationalists all seem to share is an absolutely astoundingly terrible grasp of history, unable to imagine the - again, quite obvious - fact that people in the past defined racial & ethnic boundaries differently than we do and that those boundaries were fluid.

A tweet reading, stupidly, "Literally every civilized society in history until 60 years ago was ethnonationalist."

A tweet reading, stupidly, "Literally every civilized society in history until 60 years ago was ethnonationalist."

Meanwhile, on Twitter, the Everything App...racism, mostly?

But also bad, obviously wrong history - lots of multi-ethnic pre-modern states: Romans, Persians, Mongols, etc.

Or just note the numbers of Welsh, Irishmen and Scots in key posts in the British Empire.

"An old woman once assailed demetrius as he was passing by, and demanded many times that he give her a hearing. "i have no time," said demetrius. "then dont be king," screamed the old woman. Demetrius was stung to the quick, and after thinking upon the matter, went back to his house, and postponing everything else for several days devoted himself entirely to those who wished audience of him, beginning with the old woman who had rebuked him"

Dog if we’re playing the gerrymandering game we need to go big or home. I want every district in New York State running into New York City so that every single one is blue. Not a single Republican from California. Every seat in Illinois runs through Chicago.

The interstate extradition clause only covers "a Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime." A legislature seeking to enforce compulsory attendance on its members is not thereby charging them with a crime. Illinois has zero obligation to arrest or extradite them to Texas.

One of the most disheartening things about trans advocacy is how little the people who claim to be on our side actually listen to us.

"trans-identifying", "biological sex", and a variety of other GC dogwhistles have become common parlance because people listen to our enemies, but not us.

Used by male chiefs, ivory scepters were both symbols of status that indicated worldly authority and religious emblems that suggested supernatural influence. In Yombe society until the early 1900s, the aggressive side of a chief’s authority was dramatized in spectacular public executions. These scepters depict a chief enthroned on the bound body of a criminal destined for such a death. The use of ivory implies that the chief has the fatal power of an elephant. His hairstyle most likely derives from that worn by Portuguese sailors, and he chews a bitter root locally known as munkwisa, administered to persons suspected of witchcraft. A package of various medicines mixed with a resinous material would have been enclosed within the container extending from the figure’s head. Thus charged with potent ingredients, the scepters endowed their owners with specific supernatural powers.
