My god.
05.12.2025 22:54 β π 14 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0Sadly, we do.
05.12.2025 20:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Was also struck by Joe Hibbeln's comment during the vote, when he noted the potential for harm in getting rid of the universal birth dose: "I simply hope the committee will accept its responsibly when this harm is caused."
05.12.2025 20:54 β π 21 π 5 π¬ 1 π 0During the Friday discussion, Kirk Milhoan, a pediatric cardiologist who was recently named as the panelβs new chair, was overheard telling another panel member that he wanted to talk to βsome of the higher-upsβ about the panelβs work. βYou know, I feel like, you know, itβs, sort of like we feel like a little bit like puppets on a string as opposed to really being an independent advisory panel,β according to a transcript of the exchange captured by videoconferencing software and obtained by The Washington Post. Asked about those remarks, Milhoan wrote in a text message, βThere are pressures from many organizations: federal, industry, medical organizations that are trying to influence by ad hominem attacks, when we are trying to look at and ask for data.β
!!!
The Post obtained hot mic comments by the chair of RFK Jr.'s CDC vaccine committee.

Here is Aaron Siri's presentation. Meissner says: "What you have said is a terrible, terrible distortion of all the facts. I would like to go through then one by one, but obviously Robert will be on my case... I'm very sorry Paul Offit isn't here. I can't speak as effectively."

At ACIP day 2, liaison reps are echoing an important point (one raised by CDC's Adam Langer): the committee's mandate is public health--their recommendations are best advice for the *population* not specific children or parents.

04.12.2025 15:39 β π 18 π 6 π¬ 2 π 2Agree. Have to wonder if watching the logic these folks are applying to routine vaccines makes him ponder his conviction on those pandemic views that so closely align with theirs.
05.12.2025 14:17 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0At ACIP day 2, panel member Cody Meissner on hep B voting questions: "Thoughtful inquiry is always commendable. But that inquiry should not be confused with baseless skepticism, which is what I think weβre encountering here."
05.12.2025 13:51 β π 26 π 11 π¬ 3 π 0ACIP panelist Hibbeln is calling the preamble of vote 1 "illogical". And calls the idea of calling for a dose sometime before two months "unconscionable" because no evidence has been presented and notes it was the reason for tabling the vote in September.
He's angry.

ACIP just voted to delay 'til tomorrow morning their vote on its hepatitis B vaccine recommendations-- after much confusion about what, exactly, they were even going to be voting on.
04.12.2025 18:13 β π 10 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1Reminder: ACIP doesnβt have the authority to tell insurers to cover the multiple later blood draws theyβre recommending.
Thatβs aside from them not understanding that you have a series to get lasting immunity, not just temporary antibodies, so should complete it.
THIS is how you do health journalismβincluding the highly responsible title that gets immediately to the real story
Thank goodness for journalists like @melodyschreiber.com & columnists like @lisamjarvis.bsky.social at Bloomberg, who are covering the dangerous shenanigans of the MAHA crew so well
thank you! (and good company to be in)

For folks who have relied on enhanced tax credits, the 2026 deadline on healthcare.gov looms like the anti-Advent... with no deal sight from Washington.
Policy folks advise signing up; there could be a deal after the deadline. if there isn't, you could drop out after using your annual exam.
