Advances in Archaeological Practice: Volume 13 - Pathways to Repatriation for NAGPRA Practitioners | Cambridge Core Cambridge Core - Advances in Archaeological Practice - Volume 13 - Pathways to Repatriation for NAGPRA Practitioners

Just in time for Thanksgiving, our themed issue "Pathways to Repatriation for NAGPRA Practitioners" went live. Guest editors Yann, Domeischel, Thompson & Schreiner show how to work toward collaborative repatration of all Ancestors & their belongings.

First Panel: "An AI has no sense of anything. No context. No experience." Illustration of a little pink frog (he's playing a blood cell in this comic, though, which is why he's pink)

Second panel: "It cannot touch" the pink frog bends down to pick a flower

Third panel: "It cannot smell" 'sniff sniff' the frog smells the flower

Fourth panel: "It cannot breathe" (the frog is now dark blue with bright pink lungs visible, as though the frog has been imaged in some way)

Fifth panel: "It cannot think" (the frogs brain is now visible, similarly to the lungs in the previous panel)

Sixth panel: "It cannot be" the frog is floating and his cute lil butt is visible

Seventh panel: "*Stares directly at camera*" the pink frog stares directly at camera

Eight panel: "It cannot be... YOU"

I don't even want to link to this, but the author of the article also wrote a novel about how 'ai will transform humanity' lol.

Almost every assumption the article makes is something that should be challenged immediately. "AI is starting to sound like another kitchen appliance" NO IT ISN'T.

Drones, physics and rats: Studies show how the people of Rapa Nui made and moved the giant statues – and what caused the island’s deforestation The mysteries of Easter Island, subjects of speculation for centuries, yield to scientific inquiry.

How Easter Island's giant statues were transported remained unsolved for decades. Physics, morphological analysis and a comprehensive 3D map now show the moai, or statues, were "walked" upright across the landscape using principles of lateral oscillation. buff.ly/Lj0PMep

I *love* the torn one that just has "you don't have to accept this future" written in regular handwriting. That's what I keep repeating to anyone who will listen to me at my institution. We don't have to participate in reinforcing this one possible future; there are others we can imagine and make.

Key Findings: Exposure to a field-specific faculty sexual misconduct incident decreases degree completion in that field by 3.4 percent four years after the incident. This decline is driven by incidents occurring after 2015, among which we observe a 7 percent decline in in-field degree completion.

Chromolithograph of Jupiter by Γ‰tienne LΓ©opold Trouvelot, titled 'The Planet Jupiter, observed November 1, 1880, at 9:30 P.M.' A large pale orange globe dominates the frame, crossed by subtle horizontal bands in shades of peach, tan, and faint blue. The Great Red Spot appears as a distinct pale oval near the lower left limb. Delicate pastel shading captures atmospheric turbulence and limb darkening. Title and artist signature in elegant script at bottom. From The Trouvelot Astronomical Drawings (1881)

Hi
Thank you for reaching out. We have reviewed your visit documentation and can confirm that the notes in question were generated using our Al scribe system. It appears the Al tool assigned diagnosis code F32.9 (Depressive disorder, unspecified), while your visit notes and treatment plan reference lumbar disc herniation (back pain).
Per compliance policy, certain Al-generated fields cannot be manually updated by clinic staff and require vendor correction. We have escalated this to our vendor support team and opened ticket # . We'll notify you once we receive
confirmation or correction from the vendor.
