In my time in the UK I've been asked if I was:

- German (by far the most common, apparently it's the accent's fault)
- Danish (by a taxi driver, before I could even speak, no idea why)
- Czechoslovak (by a guy in line behind me in a chippy, surprised to discover I was Italian, also no idea why)

When immigrants don't earn a lot, we are bad because we don't contribute. If we earn a lot we are also bad, apparently, because we benefit the rich. There is no way to appease people who will come up with post hoc rationalisations to justify why we are deleterious anyway.

If Starmer had any sense he would sack her now. Alas...
