Although she now makes the land her home, Elephant still returns daily to the original source of her being to drink deeply of its life force: to bathe, to roll, to wallow, and swim in the warm tropical waters of the Bay of Bengal. A mighty colossus who bestrides the earth on fleshly pillars, Elephant is also the embodiment of sentience, heart-felt emotion, altruism, and maternal love, which may endure for fifty years. Her calves find shelter from the blazing Sun when she pushes them beneath her great stomach and with her strong trunk lifts them to safety from raging flood waters, even at the risk of being swept away herself. When drought strikes, to keep her calf cool she sprays it with water regurgitated from her own stomach. With her trunk, so little different from a human hand, she holds on to her tiny calf's tail and when older, her calf will clasp hers as they amble togethr from place to place. A matriarch whose experience and wisdom is respected leads Elephant's close-knit family group, sometimes for many decades. It is she who decides when it is time to cease foraging, to rest for the night, to visit the dark caves where mineral-rich salts lie, and she who in times of danger gives the command for group defense, retreat, or open attack. Should she be shot her family, rather than desert her, surround her sadly and frantically, risking their own lives. If she has fallen injured they lift her to her feet and walk her to safety, supporting her bulk on their trunks. If Elephant has chosen to walk by your side in your journeying, she seeks to speak to you of the unconditional love that only your family gives unreservedly. In times of trouble we sometimes turn away from our families, even our mothers. Elephant counsels that the time has come to accept their love and, like Elephant, learn from the wisdom accrued over a lifetime.

I felt a familiar, intense pull to draw a card from the Animal Wisdom deck tonight. I shuffled for about 30 seconds when the Elephant card flew out. It reads: YOU GAIN THE LOVE AND WISDOM THAT IS PASSED FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT. The opposite can also hold true.

People are waking up to reality: it’s working folks vs billionaires.

The slice of night sky I saw was filled with stars. Right at that exact moment, a vertical shooting star dropped.It was unreal.

One night a being woke me from my sleep and told me to get out of bed. I was so sleepy that I said no. They said it again, “come on get up.”I reluctantly got up.
