like damn there are really people out there who think singleplayer experiences in games are the default and correct experiences to judge and analyze when it comes to discussing design. like what’s up with that?

seems to weirdly stem from guys who are self proclaimed gameplay first lovers and/or arcade centric which is the sad part to me. like “oh you only like/think better of this beatemup/platformer because of the co-op” and it’s like man there’s an entire genre that’s inherently less fun without others

there are a lot of convos online and people i see with beliefs that have me wanting to just go: “man you really ought to play a fighting game sometime”

i think it's necessary for one's own spiritual health to have at least one game that not many people know about but is a massive in-joke with a friend group. it's good for the soul to have you & a group of people to just collectively & constantly poke at a game nobody's thought about in two decades

the channel i consistently watch is basement brothers and while he does do reviews of the games he's covering i'm also interested in him discussing what came in the packages of jp home computer games and how to get them to work. basically almost like unboxing and tutorializing then giving more info

yeah that's kind of how i always feel. i'd much rather read someone's take in about 2-10 minutes (depending on how long the writing is) rather than spend like several hours worth of watching something that's just so unnecessarily drawn out. not all of them r like that but in my mind those stick out

oh agreed 100%. i still think the game's decently fun but i absolutely had to save state during those bosses because i just couldn't do it lmao

do people actually enjoy watching reviews in the current day. or better question does anybody in their 20s still enjoy doing this or is this a thing younger people tend to do more

can there be a youtube feature to block any sort of video game essay/review i just open the thing to listen to music. i don't feel like getting flashbanged by the worst titles & thumbnails known to man. idk what it is about essayist guys that need to make themselves look as unappealing as possible

the combo of the penultimate boss and the final level (and boss) was like probably one of the few moments i’ve ever had in my gaming experience where i was like “i kneel. i give up. i’m not strong enough...”

there’s no worse feeling than trying to explain why you think the difficulty of something isn’t that bad while also proceeding to play terribly in front of people due to a combination of naturally not being good at video games + streamer’s curse
