My goal for this year is to be true, to myself and others. I will fail, and that is okay. Goodness and truth are real as much as the cruel attempt to deny it. Defend the parts of yourself and others that are true, there are people who will take it from you if you don't. Love genuinely, and be loved.

A coward bullies the weak to feel strong, the ignorant disparages the knowledge of others to feel wise. There is no shame in cowardice or ignorance. We are all flawed. The shame is the inability to confront that truth. It is only by accepting our failures that we can attempt to change them.

Growing up, I feel like I was taught that evil was an accident, a mistake on the part of people. The sad truth is that the evil men and women of the world know what they are doing. Every cruelty is justified by lies, willful delusion from the truth that they feel in their bones.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching recently, both due to stuff in my personal life and just the state of the world. I think the thing that I come back to is that truth is the most important thing. All evil, in my mind, comes from the attempt to deny that which is true.
