Reading book that mentions early detection of COVID-19 in sewage that includes summary of early days of detection, outbreak. Brought me back to those days like a tide and I thought wow, I lived thru that.

And I had this sudden soothing thought:

Someday these days, too, will be in a history book

This is so relatable. I wish they’d listen. I never used to fear blood draws, but now….

Same. I used to be easy but a major illness wrecked my veins. What a transition. It sucks, doesn’t it?! The memories of the easy draws will always linger 🥲

This is my orange cat every single morning. Just yelling at me for no reason. Goofball.

Thanks for providing the date. It’s a good article, but we can’t be circulating it like it’s current. That makes Americans who are against deportation look sloppy and uninformed.

Horizontal scene shows a range of orange, brown, and bright red dust mainly along the left side and top. The right edge is darkest, where there is the least dust. A thick pillar starts at left and ends near the middle. At the end of the pillar is a protrusion that looks a little like a pointing finger. The center has translucent layers of bright purple and white gas. The scene is speckled with stars. The largest stars, which appear at top left and throughout the middle, are blue and each have four bright diffraction spikes. Background stars are orange and red. The reddest stars appear most concentrated toward the right and are the smallest.

This Hubble image shows massive stars in Gum 29, which are unleashing ultraviolet light and hurricane-force winds that etch away the enveloping gas cloud.

The result? Pillars, ridges, and filaments of gas and dust!

We don’t condone violence. However, we’ll make an exception for Indy. Take some time to breathe this weekend and reset.

They say that the Brothers Karmazov by Dostoyevsky contains a subtle argument for belief in God despite the cruelties of the world. I’ve read it twice and I don’t get it. But I’m glad some other people read it and find something between the lines.

I had the same experience! I was terrified when I cancelled my Amazon prime. I’d had it for 18 years! And I’ve been fine. It’s shocking. I also learned that my payment info gets hacked less frequently when I don’t have Amazon prime. Go figure.

Original 1925 jacket cover of The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
Here is a novel, glamorous, ironical, compassionate a marvellous fusion into unity of the curious incongruities of the life of the period which reveals a hero like no other one who could live at no other time and in no other place. But he will live as a character, we surmise, as long as the memory of any reader lasts.
"There was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life. ..
It was an
extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again?"
It is the story of this Jay Gatsby who came so mysteriously to West Egg, of his sumptuous er-tertainments, and of his love for Daisy Buchanan a story that ranges from pure lyrical beauty to sheer brutal realism, and is infused with a sense of the strangeness of human circumstance in a heedless universe.
It is a magical, living book, blended of irony, romance, and mysticism.

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

-FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.

Thank you for this. As a millennial who attended college in an era where it was literally impossible to work enough hours at minimum wage to pay for school (let alone food/rent), I had no choice but student loans. I appreciate my fellow citizens who supported me via nonpredatory federal loans

I love how conservatives in my adult life have gone from “maybe if you eat nothing but rice and beans you can buy a house” to “maybe if you eat nothing but rice and beans you can survive Great Depression 2”

There’s a difference between cloud like “I saved my document in Google Drive” and cloud like “virtual machines that run servers that host the internet.” Object storage is prob what OP means when they say cheap and insecure. AWS hosting is different and EXPENSIVE. Source: 4 yrs as a webmaster

Close up portrait of a cat’s face. She’s black and white with long whiskers and very perceptive green eyes. Her fur is silky and short. She is sitting on the couch, looking at the camera, and thinking about Tuna. She is always thinking about tuna, unless she’s thinking about catnip. Her name is Meeka and she’s a good girl.

I don’t understand. Do I have proof of the letter I received? Do I have proof of the funds I spent that the letter says will not be reimbursed? I don’t know how to answer your question, but I’m willing to try if you can explain what you’re wondering about.

My illegally cancelled grant was related to continuing education for faculty at a private Christian university. Any Christians who insist this administration will spare them, allow me to disabuse that stupid notion.
