Metaphor's pope stand-in is a corrupt, murderous, power hungry bastard, and its portrayal of organized religion is charitable compared to older games I played like Breath of Fire 2, FFX, Tales of Symphonia, ECT.

There was a portion of the 7th console generation where very few new games interested me, and I started collecting and playing games on older systems instead. I gained a nice collection of old cartridges and PS1/PS2 games in the process.

I'd love to peer into a reality where Metaphor and E33 were released exactly as they are now, but they swapped art-styles. Same story, gameplay, ETC but Metaphor is now quasi-photorealistic, while E33 is cel-shaded.
