I remember when trying to forgive student loans was massive overreach of Presidential power.

people are taking this as an anti-ABS post and not as it was intended: "the average baseball fan has completely fried their brains on rage-bait accounts that screenshot gameday strike zones and are in a constant state of frothing madness about umpires"

please be respectful

One of the first things we were taught at Quantico was that there is never a moment in which you are not representing the Bureau; but, then again, we earned our place there, and weren’t granted its directorship as a sinecure for partisan malfeasance and a willingness to disregard the constitution.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Crop of original image. Daytime street level image of a sign reading SAINT PAUL CITY LIMITS mounted on two poles with some decorative metal work surrounding. The letters appear to have embedded light bulbs within them. A large key is suspended from the sign. Surrounding the sign are utility poles, a lamp post, a hydrant and a row of billboards advertising Stetson hats and bananas. A man stands looking squarely toward the camera underneath a CAR STOP sign. Several other figures are seen in the distant background, and a couple of parked cars.

The date cited appears as a stamp on the image (not shown) which is a photoprint. The full image, linked, shows the full streetscape including the Prospect Park Water Tower.

Archivist’s description:
Looking northwest down University Avenue into Minneapolis. Note small "welcome to Minneapolis" sign.

For no particular reason, thinking about how the Minneapolis Aquatennial was concocted by business men in 1940 to water down the memory of a 1934 Union victory that happened in spite of violent and deadly opposition

WCCO looks at one day's worth of petitions for release filed by those arrested during ICE surge. Majority with no criminal record. People were picked up on the way to get prescriptions, going to work, and showing up for scheduled immigration check ins.

There has been no draw down today. ICE snatched someone off Central Ave out of his car because he looked Latino before then letting him go a couple hours later. They were stopping people in Blaine on highway 65, they were all around Fridley, and were in the parking lot of the St Anthony liquor store

My favorite lesson plan is: kids write about something, read about that thing, write about that thing, then talk about it again. Works like a charm

Yuen: Even if ICE left tomorrow, the damage to kids is already done β€œThey’re all suffering,” says one Minnesota immigrant dad who has been sheltering in place with his children.

Stories about what ICE's presence in Minnesota has done to kids β€” something I'm seeing firsthand β€” are hard to read. It's unfathomable that kids have to go through this. www.startribune.com/ice-children...
