For example, if someone were harassed as a kid, and they make a character, that character would probably have some characteristics from that, ex. Anxiety, depressed, paranoid, etc. even if they weren’t 100% trying to make it that way!

Getting more nitty gritty, oftentimes, original characters come from thoughts, ideas, unfinished concepts, and/or experiences someone has gone through, even the environment is affected by the writer‘s past experiences! (movies, shows, life experiences, even YouTube vids and even memes)

absolutely, a few of my projects that might or might not exist (give me a few years and a bit more 3d modelling experience) are pretty obvious extensions of me (using my name, similar looks, and similar mannerisms/behaviours to me irl) and yeah, always treat your oc’s as extensions of yourself
