Anyone who questions the Trump/Netanyahu war with Iran threatens my personal safety as an American Jew.

The Fix: The Real Cause of the Iran War The stated pretext is absurd. Here's why the US really attacked.

Unlocking this post I wrote this back in June. I think it still applies. Among other things, it lays out in detail the likely consequences of a regime collapse.

Spoiler alert: It’s not pretty.

I know everyone rightly hates Twitter, and they are right to, but if you want to watch my feature length documentary on the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, filmed in Kyiv during the first weeks of the war, I have uploaded it here entirely free for the next 48 hours.

Why Genocide? Russia has waged many wars since 1991. Only this one is genocidal. Here's why.

Russia has waged many wars since 1991. Only this one is genocidal. Thus arises the obvious question: Why? What makes Ukraine different?

In this piece from 2024, I offered an answer.

How to Overthrow a Dictator (Full Version) In 1986, Filipinos took on a despot and won. Americans will have to do the same.

40 years ago tomorrow, Filipinos ousted a dictator who tried to steal an election.

Unless you think that Trump (or Vance) will just cede power voluntarily in 2029, then Americans will have to do the same.

The good news? It’s eminently doable. In my latest, I explain how.

Which is how we should *really* feel about organized crime. That said, it seems you got far out of the film than I ever could!

Thread by @neil_abrams on Thread Reader App @neil_abrams: Atrocity-denial is the lowest form of punditry. Which explains why it attracts such inveterate bottom-feeders as @aaronjmate and @mtracey. So let’s take a look at their most recent foray...

If you're puzzled by Michael Tracey defending Epstein, note that it's a small step from denying atrocities on behalf of foreign powers to denying atrocities on behalf of rich guys.

Here's a thread I did on Tracey (and Aaron MatΓ©'s) ludicrous denial of Russia's mass child abductions in Ukraine.

If most of those implicated in the Epstein scandal happened to be liberals, I can assure you that Matt Taibbi would find it *very* interesting. But because they're not, he thinks it's boring.

Taibbi becomes easier to get once you understand that he just hates liberals, like the kind he used to be.

In 1999, I had a happy hour with 2 friends. We got to talking about how evil Sodexo-Marriott was (they were the biggest investors in private prisons). One friend ran with the idea & launched a huge nationwide campus campaign (they also ran the dining halls) to force them to divest & eventually won.

How to Overthrow a Dictator, Part 3 The pillars fallβ€”and take the temple with it.

A question not enough people are thinking about:

What are Americans going to do when the GOP incumbent tries to stay in power after an election loss in 2029?

40 years ago, Filipinos faced that very problem - and won. Here's how they did it.

(Pt. 3 can be read as a stand-alone essay.)

There's a reason why I fled to Canada with my family: I am absolutely convinced that these people in the US decided that the final solution to the transgender question was rounding them all up and putting them in mental institutions from which they would never emerge alive as far back as late 2022.

In other words, the backsliding is real and serious. This is perhaps the most unfavorable that the public has been toward trans rights in quite some time. Republicans have successfully and effectively exploited several flashpoint issues, like sports, in order to shift public opinion in their direction, while progressives have been unable to effectively muster persuasive arguments.
Some of this may be down to an unwillingness to even entertain a debate, in an unsuccessful effort to maintain a unified front. Progressive activists and organizations have often been confrontational when challenged with dissenting views, leading critics to claim that these tactics left little room for actual debate. The net result, however, is the worst-case scenario for progressives and trans individuals alike, as a previously sympathetic public’s support of trans rights has completely unraveled over the last decade.

The anti-trans side made bomb threats to children's hospitals. They spent a billion dollars messaging this over the last 7 years while the Dems mostly stayed silent or ducked away. But somehow, they always seem to blame trans people for their own persecution.

Marcos met his end not at the hands of a superior military force but a society that stopped obeying him. By the simple act of noncompliance, everyday resisters had consigned his regime to ashes.
