Mistakes i learned from: I cut the front straps as one with the side bodice, which I’ve been getting away with on other uniforms, but the looser weave on this made the off-grain pull super obvious during finishing. this is why i yap about the importance of understanding and cutting on grain!

The maids explained getting dressed was a hassle since the last iteration had it in 3 separate pieces: apron, skirt, and bodice with a lace-up back. I combined the 3 pieces into one zip-back dress for quick changes and easier wear.

also custom tags for every maid!

Straps kept slipping off in the previous iteration. I repatterned the straps to angle toward the center for better stay, and added adjustable buttonholes at the back for fit adjustments.

Shirred back for comfort, mobility, and size inclusivity.

Last iteration had issues with durability. To improve durability, I used real flat felled seams (not faux!) , which fully enclose the raw edges, are stronger, and also create a clean channel for the boning. Also lined the bodice so there are no visible side or waist seams

This still uses premade aprons, but the original hems were visually not as clean and not very durable, so I replaced them with rolled hems for a cleaner look that’ll hold up better over time

Basque waist! They were about to give up on the V-shaped waist because the bodice kept wrinkling and flipping up, but I really wanted to make it work since it’s such a fun and unique detail! I added rigilene boning for structure without sacrificing mobility. Video of bow test since maid cafe

digitizing the gold flower design and testing vinyl for the blue triangle hem on her skirt. I don't like how the vinyl weighs down the chiffon so testing other options!

I'm using a boob plate for this build, so figuring out how to pattern for it!
