A Grey Heron stands perfectly still, its long neck stretched tall and beak pointed forward, eyes wide and unblinking. Its sleek grey feathers and sharp stare give off an air of quiet determination...or perhaps silent desperation? With an expression that screams, "If I don’t move, maybe no one will ask me to do anything," it perfectly captures that classic Monday mood.

Monday mood: This Heron standing very still, hoping no one asks it to do anything today.

It is not necessary that the Traditions and Ceremonies be in all places one, or utterly like;

DO NOT DO THIS, STOP TRYING TO MAKE THIS A THING

Just accidentally tuned in to Robert Jenrick's defection speech.

'We are living through the most profound change to our population in our nation's history.'

I didn't know this, but my first thought reading your post was 'Oof, books were *heavy* back then.'

I've said it already but sadly this erasure is only going to continue until Parliament votes to undo FWS and restore the original meaning of the Equality Act. We need much more public pressure and unequivocal demands for this restoration from minor parties and supportive MPs. Nothing less

A woman wearing a mid-length navy dress with a bold nativity-inspired pattern. The dress has doves and stars all over it, and the hem shows a Bethlehem skyline with sheep, shepherds, the wise men, and others.

I am insufferably twee, and I make no apology for it.

I think that's much 'safer' if you're worried about a bishop being unhappy with you about something. That said, I really hope a bishop would never pull anyone up for legitimate academic work just because it doesn't also function as church propaganda...

I think the type of ministry (basically, stipendiary vs. self-supporting/PTO) would be the biggest factor, rather than the fact of ordination itself.

This all reminds me of the attitude many churches take to queer people. Welcome and unwelcome, belonging but only under certain conditions, valued but only within harsh and cruel parameters, required to give so much of themselves for so little in return, and expected to be grateful for the crumbs.

Same. The longer they're left up, the more it feels like they've been left deliberately for when the next horrendous pandemic hits.

The 2020s equivalent is going to be all the social distancing/'queue here'/'one way pavement' signs and markings that don't look like they're ever going to be removed...
