I was covering the #ICE arrests outside of immigration courtrooms at the fed building in #Seattle yesterday. 1 of the 10 masked ICE agents tried to intimidate me by coming up to me, just inches away, to take a photo of my face. Others went to stand right behind me, I suspect to provoke me.

GESTAPO agents-I mean #ICE and #DHS thugs after a raid in Kent, Wash, where they arrested ~20 people whose crime was working to take care of their families. A woman said her partner, who has a kidney condition, was detained and needs meds. One is a single mom w/2 babies. Unk what will happen 2 them

I'll note that the right made the same bet on abortion bans: that as long as they implied victims are sluts and bimbos, they could weather the blowback.

But that didn't happen, and I think part of the reason is that the pro-choice movement didn't get defensive or insist on perfect victims.

This reminds me a lot of the abortion issue. As long as "abortion bans" were an abstract issue, it was easy for people to be "pro-life" — because they didn't think of the victims as real people in this hypothetical.

Once actual women were denied abortions, though, the narrative shifted.

There's a reason Trump is amping up the lies and gaslighting. The assumption that people will automatically be for concentration camps is not true.

As long as "mass deportations" was an abstract concept, people liked it. Details can change minds.
