I bought one of their shirts because it looked more like an actual dress shirt than a typical hiking shirtβseemed useful for travel
Sorry to report it's not at all breathable and therefore useless to me as a hiking shirt
And up close there are "technical" details so it's weird as a dress shirt too

Her pinned tweet (still) says of Mamdani: "When I critique him, it's because I expect more from someone who knows better"
So yeah, while I think she's wrong...they're trying to make this "the left eats itself" when it's really not. She never claimed he sold out the cause. It's just a critique

Nerdeen Kiswani on X:
Thereβs no βscourge of antisemitismβ in NYC. Acts like these, while reprehensible, are often weaponized to justify Zionist narratives and repression of Palestine solidarity. Many past βantisemiticβ scares turned out to be fake, like the Israeli Jewish teenager who made hundreds of bomb threats to U.S. synagogues in 2017.
Norman Finkelstein has spoken about how βantisemitismβ in the U.S. is largely a political tool, not a real social phenomenon.
Mamdani shouldnβt be validating this framing.
Quote tweeting Zohran Kwame Mamdani on X:
This is a disgusting and heartbreaking act of antisemitism, and it has no place in our beautiful city. As Mayor, I will always stand steadfast with our Jewish neighbors to root the scourge of antisemitism out of our city
Nerdeen Kiswani on X:
It should go without saying that Mamdani is far better than any other current option for mayor. When I critique him, itβs because I expect more from someone who knows better. Every criticism I make of him applies tenfold to the rest.
Pinning this for clarity before you project.
She never said he sold out the Palestinian cause by condemning this. She objected to his framing, while calling the actual swastikas "reprehensible"
Her pinned tweet supporting Mamdani is still there
I disagree with her about this issue but there's no need to misrepresent her position

I'm mostly wondering if there are PM2.5 thresholds that could tell me, "this public place has 2000ppm CO2 because of the gas fireplace, but the air is actually safe to breathe without a mask because they have great HVAC filtration"
And if not PM2.5, would something else work?
01.11.2025 05:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Low CO2 means low infection risk, and measured easily with an Aranet CO2 monitor
But higher CO2 doesn't necessarily mean higher infection risk. The air could be filtered, or CO2 could be coming from a non-human source (e.g. gas stove)
Is there a portable monitor that could identify the latter?
01.11.2025 05:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
50% of the air is recirculated (with filtration)
So even though the air has been replaced, the filters don't remove CO2 from the portion that's recirculated
But because the other portion is outdoor air, you don't see 5000+ ppm like you can in cars that recirculate ~100% in that mode

The article is misleading
Vance used vague wording, so that an uninformed person might think he was talking about Native Americans in the modern-day US
But actually I think he was mostly trying to imply that Latin American people would be doing child sacrifice if not for Catholicism
01.11.2025 04:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
He may have claimed in other speeches/comments that this happened in North America, but he actually said "the New World" and "all over the world" at this event
I'm wondering if the article author summarized based on tweets like this one instead of watching the actual clip

Yeah, Vance chose his words carefully. He talked about the "New World" and "ancient civilizations" and nothing about North America
He's making an anti-abortion, pro-Catholic argument that implicitly insults immigrants from Latin America
And yet everyone is "debunking" something he never said

Such a pointless hill to die on when the overall piece is about how no politician is special and any of them will behave like a progressive if that's what they believe their constituents want. Which is an anti-Platner argument if you think about it for 5 seconds

Also if you're wondering why we punch in instead of shooting multiple angles: especially with DIY/remote setups, it's hard enough to get one angle that looks good (e.g. no distracting reflections on the person's glasses) that we don't usually try for two

Actually a common note I give video editors is "punch in to avoid jump cut" haha
Where "jump cut" is used to mean two back-to-back takes of the same shot, to hide a mistake
The context here is scripted instructional videos, where the on-camera talent is a subject matter expert and not an actor

He clearly cares about getting credit. Tweeted to thank CBS News for crediting him as the "aviation tracker" who originally reported on another incident
On the other hand, he also has recently tweeted about journalists wanting to know his sources and him saying no
Hence idk watermark or redaction

I can't tell if it's supposed to be a watermark or redaction (or both?)
I see at least one other image with π€ emojis covering faces in a crowd
When someone commented "Looks like the paperclip was added above the image" he responded "That is correct"
But I don't see other mentions
But no direct
