I hate this hyperbole. They have died for Ukraine's right to join NATO. Russia's actions have been deplorable, but if you accept that NATO represents global freedom and democracy then you really have been brainwashed.

Lots of horror about the extraordinary exchange between Trump and Zelensky.

But this may be the new normal and it's ultimately what people in the US voted for. Hard right nationalist politics have no morals, only prizes to be secured and lots of collateral damage.

I would dispute that Boris was a conviction politician. Johnson did what was best for himself and changed position regularly to suit the galleries. The right wing version of Starmer in a way, just more charismatic.

I really don't know why some are only just realising this. Starmer has never had any plans politics.
