I strongly suspect that among other things, the EO requiring Trump political appointees to review grants is a strategy to funnel NIH funding to red states while starving blue states of research money.

Remember that very recently, a bunch of Republican Senators complained about NIH cuts.

Here, Vought doesn’t dispute slow-walking release of NIH grants from congressionally appropriated funds so that they can be cancelled in a couple of months through pocket rescission, thereby bypassing congress to enact huge cuts to NIH research.

JUST IN: A federal judge has blocked the cancelation of $175 million in National Endowment for the Humanities grants, mass terminated by DOGE in April. She says the effort was transparent viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment.

Now that #svu is back to filming, I’ll have to watch for @olvofficial.bsky.social updates. One of these days I’ll get to go by a filming location!
