It is a great honor to help so many people in my community, and to be an anchor to my many friends and loved ones who are experiencing poverty, homelessness and the terror being put on us by our own government. I am already stretched so thin over these issues.

In general, fundraisers tend to do their best when a handful of committed people see it through to the end. Random, small amounts of help are but band-aids when the people affected are hurt so brutally.

I am currently fundraising on the side for myself, as I’m a disabled and trans self-employed artist, and I haven’t had consistent, livable income in four years.

I am committed to focusing on getting Dua’a and her family out of Gaza.

Since I have started posting about giving money to Dua’a’s family, I’ve been very overwhelmed by the amount of Palestinians reaching out for my assistance. I am one person, and it’s very rare that I have any funds to give.

Tatreez patches on various, colorful aida cloth and stitched with gradient thread. There are medium and large patches of cypress trees with checkered borders, moons of Bethlehem, pigeons, and teeny tiny birds.

All the tatreez patches I made for Sunday’s Pop-Up for Palestine. The remainders will go up on my ko-fi later today! I plan to continue making these and trying new motifs in the future, with all the sales going to Dua’a and her family. Saoirse don Phalaístin!

Tatreez is rich with motifs and color palettes that give additional meaning and richness. This is a cypress tree that represents Gaza. I will add a “stick” border around it before giving it a peel and stick backing.

A sneak peek at the tatreez patches I’ll be offering at the upcoming Pop-Up for Palestine. I’ve been wanting to dip my toes into Palestinian embroidery for over a year now, and am grateful for the motivation to pursue that now!
