when I was in secondary school the local radio had a request a love song hour at night & most of the time it was gossip fodder for who was asking requests for who & why. Breakups, hookups etc.

Anyway this song would definitely have been on the playlist

I read something about it in vogue once but I’m not sure if it’s for me. I eat lunch most days with a dog staring at me. I like to think it’s β€œavant garde”. Whatever that means.

Huh. And there was a bright full moon the other night too so makes sense yeah.

Suspicious Minds by Elvis. Or Daydream Believer by the Monkees.

That 2nd one always got an In Her 90’s Momo grooving at our house parties. She got off the couch and everything

Living in Galway where you can walk easily enough to most places unless it’s raining &/or you’re carrying big bags of groceries, it was mind blowing to go to my cousins neighbourhood in Braintree & see how pedestrian unfriendly it was. Actually the whole place isn’t good for walking.

I have some v specific thoughts about elements in that film and current times but probably best not to put them here

Yes I do. A lot. For many reasons.

Family voting growing up was my grandmother telling us we weren’t voting for β€œthat blackguard” (she was v political in her own way). Also I did all those things @ the booth with my grandmother as she got older. Her saying loudly β€œIS THIS MY # 1?!” & me hissing β€œsecret ballot!!” Good times.

When out & about, family trips or car journeys & someone might worry about what I can eat or when I can eat (being well out of a routine) I always say find me a chipper & I’m a-okay!

I too am living on the edge. In the garden. No coat. Just a hoodie. It has stopped raining. And the big puddle in the garden is gone. Though the flower bed is a pile of mud but you can’t have everything in February

Opinion columns are such a waste of printed space. I don’t care what these people think & some read like 1st drafts of a 6th class essay.

If they wrote about niche interests or hobbies or something that’s more than just β€œI hate this” or β€œanyone who hates mass doesn’t deserve to vote”.

That you’d be at that level of office to invite guests and feed them this is so gauche. But then what more do you expect from the likes of that

Caveziel was grand as the count. Pity hes just out and out problematic these days.

Also it was partly filmed in Ireland so yay local production kinda

Girl, as they say. I saw it twice in the cinema, was at my local video store to rent it the day it came out & then I had to buy it on DVD. I was a watch all the extras and directors commentary girl for that movie. Kevin Reynolds does a really good one for that film.
So yeah. Extremely formative

Same. I love the book & am compelled to watch dramatisations. I saw this one & enjoyed it immensely

+1 to this. Distilling the story down to those tropes does it a disservice & makes it seem like you’re checking boxes instead of story telling. I don’t care if it makes something easier to sell/be visible. There’s too much of it.

Thank you! There’s all kinds of inspo for characters across all facets of art but do we have to be so obvious about this one? Some people need better group chats for support and advice

Yesterday before I caught the train home after a meeting I went to an art & craft shop & dropped a lot of money on stickers & washi tape. I regret nothing. They’re so pretty! My journal pages deserve nothing less!

Watched the 1st 3 episodes of Season 2 Paradise. Sterling K Brown is stellar as always. I wasn’t sure if I was in the frame of mind for a post apocalyptic tale right now but the way the story beats are being dropped & linking in to each other already ? I’m reeled back in! Such a smart well made show

What brand is it, if you don’t mind my asking? I do love researching luggage as though I had rich widow travel money

I watched that on dvd from the library & I FF-d some of it. Didn’t hate it, it just meandered a bit for my interests. I got the 2nd one from the library too actually

…maybe it speaks to the time & place - early 90s Ireland was v different to today - but that bunch of girls weren’t feral over Heathcliff or Cathy. Too busy wondering what questions would come up on the exam paper in June probably

Wuthering Heights was our leaving cert English novel in 93. Our class watched the Timothy dalton version & when Heathcliff bangs his head against a tree in passionate turmoil, I recall us laughing. Someone said in class that the book was a good read but everyone in it was off their rocker…

Every successful invention solves a common problem: washing clothes, illumination, ease of travel.

The problem A I is trying to solve is *us* - WE are the problem to tech oligarchs and corporate elite. It's all for them. They just can't say that part.

They're trying to sell us our own redundancy.
