Strega Nona fanart! I think more of us should draw fanart of our childhood faves. What were the kids’ books that you remember fondly?

A small black and white comic. The comic shows me in four stages. At the beginning I am lurched over in my office chair, prepared to work hard. A speech bubble says: 'Okay. Time to lock in and-.' My cat's head is peeking up from around my lap. In the second part, my cat has started to crawl into my space. I look down at her, but am still distractedly saying: 'Time to lock-' In the third part my cat is starting to make herself comfortable on my chest, where she likes to be. I am succumbing, looking off in the distance saying: 'To-' By the fourth section, I have fully surrendered. She is sleeping on chest. It's all over.

Fresh Start is OUT!!!!! It’s a lot of things — a mixed kid story, a gender story, a complicated family story, a friendship story, a love letter to anime tweens — but mostly it is RIDICULOUS and FUN and I’m so proud of it and so grateful to everyone who made it happen. AHHHHHHHHHH.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me? Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
