Executive director Stefanie Lang travelled last week to Zimbabwe to attend the Africa Protected Areas Directors 2024 Conference.
It's clear that Africa contributes enormously to global conservation efforts and to 30x30, so funding to African protected areas must be diverse, coordinated & effective.
Field research stations provide many conservation benefits & significant returns on investment
Areas near them lose 18% less forest especially in Africa & provide habitat for more than 1,200 species at risk of extinction
And these benefits come at a median cost of just $637/km2, a new study finds:
