Russia's spending has risen a lot, but can't continue rising indefinitely. As a person who feels that money can always be found for war, but never for things that matter ( climate change, education, social justice etc, I'm suspicious.
I am confused by this claim. Certainly Russia is a problem and Ukraine actually needs support but the numbers don't appear to stack up for her claim? Why fearmonger like that when the main thing Russia has is a willingness to throw bodies at its causes, not money?

27.05.2025 09:21 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You make sense here, but the problem is that the wealthiest 5% or so are accumulating wealth in a way that accelerates inequality by gobbling up most of the assets, driving the housing crisis and climate change. It therefore isn't just about funding public services.
25.05.2025 13:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In any case, as Gary's economics has explained, they own assets here, which can be taxed. You can't take land and property elsewhere, only sell it. Not all rich people want to go and live in places that are cut off from civilization anyway and if you want a civilised society it costs money.

Tony Blair Institute have released a report which is getting a lot of coverage in UK today
It says the drive for net zero emissions is flawed and some media outlets have gone to town
However itβs a bit odd
By odd, I mean thereβs a lot of bollocks in it and shouldn't be taken seriously π§΅π§΅

This is getting ridiculous now. It's common for there to be signs up to say that the cleaner is not the same gender - there was a male cleaner in the service station I used yesterday. If people can manage that, they can cope with the presence of trans people.
I know Pope is the big Catholic daddy, but hanging on for

B, the chance to give some little scrote a piece of his mind
Is peak, PEAK Catholic Nana Behaviour
In case I am not clear, I stand with trans people and think they should be treated as a member of their chosen gender, but I also think the whole binary is somewhat outdated and that trans women aren't the threat, bigots are.
17.04.2025 10:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Trans people are still protected by other parts of the act and bigots need reminding of that.
Also, fun fact - trans women and indeed men can breastfeed. It's more difficult but possible. There's a tribe where men use their nipples to comfort their babies.

Sex isn't actually as binary as the UK court ruling is making out.
1 in 2000 humans are born intersex - that adds up to a considerable number.
That's just those who are visibly different.
Sex chromosome differences exist (eg XO, XYY)
We are still learning about how the brain develops and functions.
www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
Development of the embryo is prone to issues and a surprising amount of babies are born physically intersex, so it's no surprise that there are people who are neurologically a different gender to their physical body, making the basis of this law nonsense.

How much do you think it costs to make a pair of Nike shoes in Asia?
Before you open this thread, take a guess. Settle on a number and then compare it to what you'll learn in this thread. π§΅
