Sometimes but I think we get in our own heads about that more than our audience notices. Most of the time the audience is like β€œooh tiger stripes!” and that’s that. But yeah I’ve been getting more abstract lately to combat my own boredom in that regard.

I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive. I do think you can overdose on both, and both are good tools to get through life

I start with a greyscale version and work out markings and then go to color based on a combo of the environment, the mood I’m going for and whether or not the thing is a β€œhero” part of it’s composition. But that said one thing I learned is if the values (greyscale) are good you can get away w w/e.

I’d hate them less if they didn’t feel like a given. I want variety. I also have this issue w Digimon and end tier monsters being big titty ladies and gundams.

It’s nice, there’s about a million ways to do any one thing, and about a million things you can do with it including painting via Grease Pencil. Lmk if you ever want tips for starting up :)

Also, if it does spell the end of a bunch of franchises, it will be nice in a way bc it’ll open up that space for actual new ideas and franchises. Maybe. I hope. Lmao. I say this as a lifelong Star Trek fan too. If it dies, at least maybe we can get something that is not a sequel/prequel etc

happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is megapterygius, a mosasaur from late cretaceous japan. at least 5 of its posterior dorsal vertebrae have neural spines that project anterodorsally, suggesting that it may have had a dorsal fin reminiscent of some delphinoid cetaceans

Exactly. And us at the base of the totem pole have exactly nobody in power willing to reach for any lever and yank it. Exhausting. Infuriating. Depressing.
