A new arrival from Sheffield, reported to us with a wing injury. We aren’t too sure how this swan came by his injuries, but he’s recovering in one of our care pens now the wing is bandaged into placed.

One of our rescuers was able to attend this distressed swan this afternoon, reported with a hook in the bird’s face. Thankfully the fishing tackle was safely removed, and the animal was able to be returned back to the water a short time later.

One of our latest rescues, another casualty injured after colliding with overhead power cables whilst in flight. The bird is making a steady recovery in our care, receiving ongoing treatment for a wing injury.

A call to Brayton this morning, for a young swan that had crash landed in a residential garden. Coincidentally - thanks to his leg ring - we know this is the same bird we assisted on the Selby Canal in the darkness of New Year’s Eve, found with a fishing lure in his leg.

This very lucky swan was recently rescued after landing on railway tracks near Goole. Thankfully the bird was uninjured by any passing train traffic and pursuaded into an area of safety before we could arrive, bringing her to our base for further care.

We don’t post often enough about the smaller birds we see! This Goldfinch was brought to our hospital earlier today from Stillingfleet, we suspect the bird had hit a window and is recovering nicely in one of our warm brooders since arriving.

This swan was rescued during the week, found with a wing injury near the old Ferrybridge Power Station site, after a suspected collision with a cable pylon whilst in flight.

A recent arrival from Skipton, after a bad landing resulted in a wing injury. The bird is making a steady recovery in our care, and our thanks go to Craven wildlife for relaying the bird into us for treatment.

Although shocked, the youngster is now settled and recovering well at our hospital, where we expect his wounds to heal over the coming days with continued care.

Another injured swan rescued from beneath overhead power cables, after the animal was witnessed colliding with the lines whilst in flight earlier today, near Scarborough.

Nice to see this young swan returned home to the Lincoln area over the weekend. The bird was brought to us in January, having been rescued with the Police after being hit by a vehicle. The bird’s knee had popped through the skin, requiring treatment. Now fully healed and back home!

Our volunteers were recently able to rescue this crash landed swan, which clearly fancied a game having landing on a bowling field in Bradford. Thankfully the bird was uninjured, and returned to the local waterway he was most likely aiming for.

A new feature for the owner of this residential garden in Bradford. The bird had navigated poorly in flight, sliding from a roof into the garden below. Without injury, the swan was able to be returned to his local waterway and mate.

Another young swan in need of our help from Scarborough, reported in a field and unable to fly. The bird was picked up close to some nearby power cables with an injury under one wing, but is now recovering well back at our hospital.

A call to Haw Hill Park in Normanton yesterday, to a swan reported with a leg injury. The bird is now receiving ongoing treatment in one of our care pens, complete with the complimentary buffet, where we expect a full recovery.

This swan was rescued earlier in the week from Doncaster. The bird was found in a patch of brambles beneath some overhead power cables, which we suspect had caused the bad landing originally. The swan continues to make a good recovery in one of our care pens.

We collected this swan from Medivet at Swanland yesterday, having been cared for by staff overnight. The bird has a back injury following a crash landing, and is now recovering in our care.

A very challenging rescue this afternoon, for a swan which had been observed tethered by fishing line to a floating pontoon. As the animal was out of reach in deeper waters, the use of one of our rescue boats was required.

Another displaced young swan leaving the territory of his parents for the first time, and crash landing on a nearby road. Thanks to those who got the animal to a place of safety until our volunteer arrived; the bird has since been released into a nearby flock.

Wildlife continue to get themselves into difficulty, and in need of our assistance. Somehow this swan manouvered itself on landing into this small fenced off area, with no means of safe escape. Our rescuer was able to release the uninjured bird onto a nearby waterway.

We assisted this swan during the week on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, reported with fishing tackle - including a barbed hook - in his leg. Thankfully, the bird was able to be treated on the Canal towpath, and immediately released back to his awaiting mate.

This swan got himself into some difficulty recently, after crash landing into the garden of a residential property. The bird was in good health otherwise, and was able to be released into a nearby swan flock.

Assisting a swan this evening at Adlingfleet, after becoming downed and trapped within a horse yard. The bird thankfully has no injuries, and can be released imminently. Our thanks to the owners for their concern and for looking after the bird until we could arrive.

This swan became a little disoriented after mistaking a wet road in Selby for a stretch of water, holding up traffic in the process. One of our rescuers were soon on hand to take the bird to safety. Our thanks to those concerned for contacting us.

A call over the weekend to a young swan in trouble on the River Aire in Leeds, caught up in undergrowth after straying into the territory of a local swan family. She received quite an unwelcome battering, but recovered quickly from her ordeal following rescue.

This very lucky bird is currently recovering with us, after being hit by vehicle on the busy A46.

The driver contacted Lincolnshire Police who kindly attended, keeping both the animal and passing motorists safe until our rescuers arrived a short time later.

Another youngster in need of our attention in recent days. Rescued from a residential garden in Haxby following a crash landing, the swan was found with a nasty injury to one wing for which she is now receiving ongoing treatment for here at our hospital.

A young swan arrived in with us earlier in the week from Castleford. We immediately found his issue, with a barbed fishing hook caught in his neck. Following surgery, the bird is making a good recovery here in our care.
