A few weeks ago I zoomed with a group of high school students and their adult mentor to discuss taking social action. I am thrilled to report that this group of 10 students raised $10,000 in two weeks to support their local food pantry. They sent me a photo and it has them all jumping and I tear up.

I feel that some of you need regular reminders of how unpopular this man is. And frankly I see him getting even more so as the economy worsens. Again, this doesn't mean that he will give up any power but it does mean that WE HAVE POWER TOO.

I've already lost all patience with the "conversations" about ICE because it's the exact same "conversation" people have had in this country about policing since its inception. Nothing changes in that conversation. Just new people rip van winkleing every few weeks.

Trump Doesnβt Care if Youβre Actually βAntifaβ
Have you protested his policies? His administrationβs elastic definition of left-wing violence could eventually ensnare you.
I spoke with historian @mark-bray.bsky.social about whatβs behind Trump's executive order declaring antifa a βdomestic terrorist organizationβ and his memorandum ordering federal probes into βorganized political violence.β

Cover of Fire Dreams: Making Black Feminist Liberation in the South by Laura McTighe, with Women With A Vision. Foreword by Deon Haywood. Cover features a painting of a woman walking forward, with a long piece of fabric draped over her shoulders and billowing behind her. Four figures stand behind her in the shadowed part of the painting, while the woman walking forward, facing to the left of the cover is illuminated.
Cover of Excited Delirium: Race, Police Violence, and the Invention of a Disease by Aisha M. Beliso-De JesΓΊs. The title appears in orange on the top half of the design and the subtitle and author name are smaller and in white.
Cover of Indifference: On the Praxis of Interspecies Being by Naisargi N. DavΓ©. The cover is light gray, and features drawings of different people from the torso up, with empty thought and speech bubbles over their heads. There are several animals around the people, including a cheetah, deer, birds, a cat, and a dog. There are also multicolored circles patterned around the people.
Cover of Residual Governance: How South Africa Foretells Planetary Futures by Gabrielle Hecht. Cover portrays a sandy and rocky landscape. In the foreground, a shirtless man, wearing blue pants and a black hat, chips away at the ground with a pick ax.
Congratulations to Laura McTighe and Women with a Dream, Aisha M. Beliso-De JesΓΊs, Naisargi N. DavΓ©, and Gabrielle Hecht, whose books were awarded SHA's 2025 Edie and Victor Turner Prizes in Ethnographic Writing! buff.ly/DDfqFsq
